Hi. I have few questions. I thinking about buying one, but I'm not able to buy outside my country. In my country I found only two offer:

    1. Akai S3200XL with Gotek Floppy USB Emulator, 8 Outs, eb16, 2nd filter with all options digital in out smpte scsi etc. for €500

    2. Akai S3000XL with Gotek Floppy USB Emulator, but without any additional 8 Outs, eb16 etc. for €200

I like more look of S3000XL with usb emulator and beautiful red digits.
What is the general difference between S3000XL and S3200XL?

I don't need 8 outs, I need only two, one for speakers, one for recording. But effects will be useful. S3000XL has a built-in effects? Or without eb16 not have any? Is second filter will be very helpfull? Or i don't need them? What is smpte, scsi?
I thinking about buying Korg Kaoss Pad 3 so theoretically I can replace eb16 for making effects but I don't know how it works in real life comparing to eb16.

I have only picture of S3000XL because both offer are from one person and he planning sell S3200XL in a few weeks.

I don't know much, but if I had to guess - I'd say whatever differences there might be between these two models, I personally would not think it's a 300 EU difference :) My advice would be to go with the cheaper one and save your budget for other gear, like perhaps a dedicated FX processor.. There are some really good ones out there for dirt cheap.

500 euros is a shocking price for a 3200 dont do it, if you dont need the 8 outs then 200 euros for the 3000xl is a pretty fair price especially with the floppy emulator (those really are a godsend), no fx on either without the fx board ,which to be honest isnt really worth the money anyway.

You may wish to hold out a little and shop around you could certainly get a 3000/3000xl with the 8 out put board for 200 euros, its one of the great joys of hardware samplers ,especially when using it as a drum machine ,having that ability to send each drum sound to a seperate mixer chanel.

You may also want to shop around for one that has had a backlight replacement as alot of the original ones are pretty faded by now ,and thats a pretty big pain in the ass

Also dont worry about scsi if the sampler has a geotek floppy emulator, scsi is just a way to interface with old hard drives which you wont need with the geotek

Just having a quick look on eBay and it looks like you can get a 3200XL for around 200 euros so I would say that your seller is a bit too expensive.

you must decide....the xl are easier with scsi...
500 would be ok with a black display and scsi2sd but not usb gotek...their not so...

better buy a s3200 or s1100 fully loaded...
350 for the 3200xl is ok price today but should be realy good then.....look inside before...

the s3200 and s3200XL have full effects on board...

you must check the specs out ...
    do you want use scsi...?
you can use them in different ways ...

    lol...
of course you must know how much mb it has ...32mb is full...

@Roject You seem confused as to the number of outputs on both samplers. Both the S3000XL and S3200XL have the same number of Standard and Assignable I/O. The difference is that in the Standard I/O of the S3200XL you have the choice of XLR and 1/4-inch. The 8 Assignable outputs for both are unbalanced 1/4- inch. All inputs are balanced.

    The ONLY other differences are:

The S3200XL is fully loaded. The S300XL does not have the FX expansions eb16 and ib30f filter. Those are the Echo/Chorus/Pitch Shift/Delay/Reverb.

The S3200XL has the SMPTE reader/Generator interface. This is not available on S300XL.

The S3200XL has the option for an internal Magnetic Optical drive. The S300XL does not.

There is nothing else that differentiate the S3000XL and the S3200XL.

They sound the same. But I really like the FX expansions on my S3200. Not XL, mind you. I pretty much bought it for the converters. XL has worse sounding converters, according to some people. But I wouldn't trust them that much. :) I bought my S3200 just because it came with all the expansions possible, for a really nice price.

Anyway, you do get a better filter [like Akai MFC42] and an interesting sounding FX card with S3200XL, but you get the same converters with S3000XL. If you're going to use it just for drum samples, you don't need the more expensive S3200XL.

Damn I feel like grandpa.

    Enjoy. Cheers!

    3000xl also has 8 outputs.

I'd buy the 3200XL, and then sell the cards, that way you're getting a better version of the 3000XL for the same price. You'll easily be able to sell both cards for 150 each, they're desirable and in short supply. The 3200XL will also have a higher sell on price.

naw---instead you want new site hobby...there are a lot of variables in buying selling repair vintage gear...

3200xl fx card is fix...instead of ram cards...sure you can strip down output, scsi etc...
but thats a new hobby then...you should test the stuff you sell too...bla bla

    i can sell you 1 s3200----

and you dont need black display but it makes it so much better...150 bucks you need on top
    and again forget usb gotek..

again do you need scsi ?:hillbilly:
or just sample youre own ?
    do want just adda shizzle...?
do you want the fx ?

i would never buy a s3000 cause i could wait for better offer for s3200...check usual places

or buy just s2000xl for 50 bucks and dip into that stuff...esp this offers have often scsi stuff on top

He said it comes with an EB16 effects card & a 2nd Filter card (IB304F), he'll easily get 300 for both of those. These are additional to the effects and filter already inside the 3200XL.

Let us put an end to all speculation here. The fx and filter are NOT "additional" on the S3200XL. Those do come STANDARD with the S3200XL. They are additional on a S3000XL. That is what makes the S3200XL different from the S3200XL. To be CLEAR, the "ib30f filer" in the S3200XL it is not a card. It is a chip integrated on the mb. BTW, in the United States the EB16 was known as "Sampleverb" and the IB304f was known as "ProFilter."
