Hello peeps, is there a way to get zero cost plugins for the MPC37?
It only comes with 4 of 22.

For instance, I have Air fabric XL for Windows (r2r), but the MPC hardware seems to be cloud licenced?

BTW is it linux or android or something underneath the hood?

So was just wondering if there are any options for the Akai hardware?

    Cheers!

Are you aware that you can have 1 additional legal MPC synth or effect after you register your purchase?

I have an MPC One+. They all run the same software. As @Piszpunta said, you can have one of their standalone plugins for free for buying your MPC recently. The MPC must be bought new and must be bought from a Akai licensed dealer. It runs Linux, but the standalone plugins for the MPC are made specifically for it and there's no way to install anything else.

The MPC is using Akai's own copy protection/licensing that seems to crap out all the time and causes all of your shit to not work when you need it to. Was a beta tester for awhile but its become quite the joke over there.. Plugins plugins more plugins, while the MPC itself has some horrible bugs that have gone untouched for like 2-3 years now and a sampler that cant really do anything but playback what you put into it heh.

I know someone that's done quite a bit of digging into it and opened up the OS (and able to switch between the Force and MPC firmware too) along with cracking the authorization scheme but he's keeping that part to himself.

Looked at the MPC 61 at Long & McQuade awhile ago but people kept bringing them in for servicing while I was there.
Salesman said avoid and I did just that.

Is that what the MPCs are running? I know squat about it, but I'm interested in it

That part kind of baffles me still.. Their manufacturing must be really hit or miss. I've had the original Live since 2019, not a single issue with it ever, but in the time since I've bought it, I've seen plenty brand new out of the box that had the 'No audio interface' issue, USB dying, missing serial numbers after reboots (we figured out how to re-enter those with the terminal though hah), etc.. Even saw plenty of flagship X's that were good and bad. Their QC is kind of lacking Im thinking, or maybe they were having some issues with their PCB fabrication in the beginning.

Akai based all of these off a Radxa SoC that was already 4-5 years old and on its way out when the MPC was initially developed. When Radxa discontinued it, Akai bought the design from them so they could keep making their own, which is why the whole lineup is running a 13 year old ARMv8 CPU as it is.

@krameri - I believe it is running DSL. A couple of users at the MPC Forums posted some nice details on both the hardware as well as the internals of the software on there (and yes there's 'hacking guides' if you so wish to try out Force firmware on it even).
