Doesn‘t have to be vinyl. This move just came from hiphop producers in the 90‘s , to get longer loops in the sampletime-limited machines.
The pitched sample goes thru the analog-digital converters, filters, 12bit resolution. Then, pitched down to taste or original speed, it got its own magic, sounds different. Add tape sound to this & u get kind of a 90‘s recipe

nice tool thank you for showin...but 8 bit and 12 bit seems not to work so good on buss....but 16 bit is all right...
but maybe 8 bit worx great on bass or drum insert...

it gave reverb some magic on one of my projects...on master buss test( drum buss+bass+sample)

i did make a second audio effect rack chain in which i deleted all for parrallel shizzle...

i like smackos much better then rx950

the smackos chain contains : 3 eq8 , 2 auto filter , 2 glue copms,2 limiters,1 utility for mono,2* bit reduction units, and 1 multi comp

Hotdamm, was not expecting this at all~! Ran some drum loops through it and immediately some godforsaken bushido warrior jumped out of my speakers and bitch slapped me like I'm a 2dollar geisha.. This thing seriously packs a punch, can achieve some major warmth, the stereo knob is a killer touch, 8bit is rediculous fatness, cranking the input makes some nasty gains, every adjustable feature is amazing and can really get a wide range of sounds out of this thing. I don't know who made it, but they certainly seemed angry or something... adding some extra saturation plugins really made it come alive also. Unreal, many thanks for the links on this!!

bruh.., did you even play with it? master buss test with a vintage sampler?,is that a thing? If you chop and mangle sounds with this it could surely sound close to the old 12bit samples imo

And yes i owned a s950, but used it for drum & loop sound coloring only, works wonders soundwise, had to sell it due to money issues, so allways on the hunt for more info on 12bit sampler emulations. Great thread

i can only say it..try it with second empty chain in the effect rack
i could use also 8 bit on bus by putin memory crunch to sero....maybe bit les transients after but i got punch there

 

This may be another interesting try on oldschool grit: In the Arturia collection is this Fairlight CMI V included, as it is a sampler, you can load your own samples into it, have to try it myself soon.
