Usually there were wars that were started by the powerful and usually there were improvements after general strikes, and the International Court of Justice also helped us to gain more rights. In our country many people are organized in unions that also push for higher wages or improvements in the workplace.

Unfortunately musicians are not organized, but we have an artists' social insurance fund where artists get cheaper rates.

In some countries there have even been attempts at a basic income, if unemployment increases enormously there will probably be a basic income in some countries.

 

Unfortunately, this bounces back to the topic of this post. Unions work when labor force is meaningful. Take the States for example, where studio musicians were unionized and they could log recording hours and get shitty pensions, but pensions anyway. The live-show scene there still has heavy influence from unions. However, once AI renders session musicians, arrangers, and the mechanical licensing of music useless, unions will lose their little influence left. Of course, forward-thinking musicians will always have a place as AI music can't really create anything new, just regurgitate what's already existing, but forward-thinkers rarely join unions because they don't tend to be jobbers.
