    hello!

I need to change my Z68 series MB. The challenge is that I own a MOTU audio interface that only have FIREWIRE ports.
    My options is:
    1. A used MB for 70 euros but without Firewire port, so I will need a pci card to add Texas Instruments Firewire that is enough expensive about 50 euros.

    2. On the other side there is MB in the range of 140-160 euros but with integreted firewire ports on board (even if hard to find TI firewire drivers)

    3. do you think a simple adapter for convert my firewire to usb will be as efficient as if I have a real onborad Firewire port or a dedicated PCI card?

    Thanks for your help

    Option 1
    get yourself an upgrade
    like this
    Why?
    This
and just get a drop in firewire card

But remember the longer you wait to upgrade your FW interface, the less money you will get (selling)

    option 2
A full Upgrade for something like this and it is fairly easy to convert thunderbolt to FW, since both are PCIe (standards).
you can still start with a cheap 2nd hand 2600 or 3600 chip
and upgrade later to a cheap(er) 5600x or even 5950x

Try searching using (or something similar) with ebay, ggogle, etc...:
    barebones dekstop+Z68+Firewire

Not a good time to buy as pricing for used computer related items are still inflated. As an example. A used AUSU or Intel Z68 motherboard in the U.S. is ranging from $120 to $178. You can find a working complete or barebones system in the same price range.

Barebones systems are usually case with power supply, motherboard & HDD.

ok guyz but my budget is extra limited and now there is the entry level z68 MB at 70eur so did someone know if a simple FIREWIRE to USB adapter at 10 euros will translate my audio infoz from audio interface to MB like if I had put a pci firewire card?
    Thanks
