Advice on mixing and mastering intentionally clipping / distorted music (100 gecs, SOPHIE, XXXTentac

    Hmm, so basically you are saying you bounce out the track as a distorted master, and then lay the same drum samples (but just the transients) over the top of that master track in a new session?

    @patatern when you say you have it on a stereo bus could you elaborate a bit more? I find that I prefer to do things in session opposed to bouncing. whats in the bus and whats not in your case? if that makes sense?

    yes exactly. it also doesnt have to be the same transients, but i have found it has more cohesion as a whole if you use the same transients. It can take some experimenting to lock it in, and it doesnt work every time, but when it does, its really great.

    Experiment with different lengths and fades of the samples / how much you want to add back in. There are even times where i will pitch the kick down a bit, or the snare up a tad or whatever, just to make it that much more thumpy or exciting.

    You may still want to compress or limit the master again a bit as well. Nothing crazy, just another db or 2 to glue the transients back in.

    Agree. The beatles remixes leave me feeling unfulfilled with a 50% member death rate. Mixes were better with 0%
