I can't wait for HTML5 to become more widely accepted, and people start churning out X264 videos with Ogg/FLAC audio. NOTHING proprietary. I'm only not sure about games... is there an Open Source project for vector graphics/games? It's not really my "territory" so I wouldn't know. :) I know Java can be used... but Java has also become a bloated piece of crap, and a security hole.

Yeah, fuck Flash. You think an update would improve something [less buggy] only to discover it got even worse. It was alright while Macromedia was developing it, but once Adobe took over all hell broke loose. One would think a big company like Adobe would make a really solid and efficient player, but all that made me doubt if their programmers really know what they're doing. That's one of the reasons I no longer use any Adobe products.

    Except bloody Flash. :(

Having said that, v9 of Flash plugin [and older] was the most stable for me. 10 was OK but a bit more quirky than 9. But 11... :( It just feels like from v9 on things got only worse regarding stability and performance.

Yep bring back v9  I use photoshop but the latest version also has problems, try changing your default printer and the damn thing crashes, and the only way to overcome this crash is to uninstall all your printers.

You know I have been ranting about this to many people recently and I even brought it up on AudioSex just last night. I fucking HATE Adobe and in my opinion they are currently holding the internet hostage. I was actually beginning to think that I was one of the few that bumped into this total misnomer. Flash would crash every browser, doesn't release all system resources even after process termination (if you can even terminate since many times I couldn't), crashes your audio card and causes many other unwanted headaches. Many times I was actually forced to do a hard reboot so if something happens to my hard drives I'm going to fucking lose it. I tried everything from disabling hardware acceleration to disabling protected mode and nothing worked consistently. There was an updated version of Flash Player put up today so check that out and see if it resolves your problem. I already am running the latest and so far I haven't bumped into the same problems (knock on wood). You can also try the 10.3 installer and see if that version doesn't have any other issues. HTML5 won't be an airtight solution for a lot of users that for example depend on Google Analytics which needs Flash in order to work. Plus most of the web isn't HTML5 at this point so you're going to end up depending on Adobe one way or the other.

Try the new one and if you run into any snags then download the uninstaller from Adobe and afterwards try 10.3. Here is the link if you are doing the latter so just choose the proper link for the browser you are using: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/889580 Just to clarify that link is for the 10.3 and if you want to try the new one first just google flash player and go through the normal installation process. I still highly recommend downloading the uninstaller and running that first.

i have the same problem - when playing a youtube video - the windows audio services just crashes. but its also with some games when closing them.

with HTML5 i have no problems and really hope we will see it soon. i mean BEATPORT is using HTML5 since 2 years now and services like YOUTUBE or SOUNDCLOUD still working with FLASH :snuffy:

FLASH is one of the buggiest things which we have to use daily in the web 2.0!

lots of old versions of flash here to try . . .

    http://www.oldversion.com/windows/macromedia-flash-player/

should find one that works (fingers crossed)!

edit: installed the last one at the bottom of the page which is nearly 12 months old and all is well again. And chose NEVER to allow for checking and installing updates

Why wouldn't you try out the new one first? So far it seems to be working for me. Also I would make sure that older versions aren't leaving security holes that were later patched. If it were me I would try the new one and if that didn't work I would revert back to 10.3

You can run YOUTUBE with html5.

But the YOUTUBE HTML5 Player does not really support bandwidth regulation as Flash does.
That mean if you watch a LONG video , noone else who is also hocked uf to your router will be able to use teh net since you will use 100% bandwidth :D
    suxx

Another thing with HTML5 Audio is that there is no way to stream audio as you can do with Flash RTMP. That means you CANT skip in a song / video until its fully loaded. suxx either
Maybe possible with range requests ?!

Something new promising is WebRTC ! but its not fully supported yet :/

Just to keep people updated I started experiencing issues on the latest version so I reverted back to 10.3 and still had the same problems which is really weird because all was fine until a few releases into version 11. What can I say? Fuck you Adobe.

I'm sorry SirSillySausage, in the programming world one kind of expects companies to fix problems in the next update. Apparently Adobe works differently.
I'm starting to think that it may have to do with a conflict with something else because everything up until the last few 11 releases have worked without issues. It doesn't make sense why 10.3 would be causing problems now if it didn't before. Something is going on that we're all missing. *yes*

Has anyone noticed that the problem has mysteriously stopped? The weird thing is that I did have this issue with the latest version but I never uninstalled it and suddenly it doesn't hang anymore. However I'm still having other annoyances I can't figure out at the moment: every single time I have AudioSex open and I run Winamp to play something it won't play. The same with any media player except VLC for some reason. I literally have to restart to be able to listen to music and as soon as I go on AudioSex...BAM same crap. Then many times when I have AudioSex open I am getting connectivity issues but when I close AudioSex suddenly everything is great. I don't get it. *no*

I just wanted to let everyone know that there are new versions of Adobe Flash Player (11.8.800.94) and Adobe Shockwave Player (12.0.3.133) available online. Try them out and see if they might resolve any issues you might be experiencing but remember to download and run the uninstaller for your product from Adobe's site first in order to start with a clean slate. All the best.

Later that day...I'm personally still getting unresponsive crashes and all sorts of BULLSHIT. FUCK YOU ADOBE, YOU ARE THE BANE OF MY EXISTENCE!!!
