    Hello everyone,

Adobe is terminating the activation servers for CS2, i.e. you can download and use the software with the given s/n.
Audition 3.0 is also in this package...
Of course, you are only legally entitled to download and install it with that s/n if you have a valid license to the product (but it's not a technical limitation).

    Thanks for your INFO, Olaf.

But Adobe's just farting in the dark with releasing old
crap (nobody wants to use). Nothing against users of older
    Systems though...

Adobe is one of the meanest software company of the world.

Pff, so what? Of course they want to make money...
People use it back then when CS2 was released, so you can use it now, too! Still using FL9, and I give a shit about the upcoming FL11, the old FL works fine for me and I can do everything with it that I want to do (or let's say everything I except from a DAW)
You do not have to have the newest and freshest stuff.
    And hey, it's free

What improvements would that be? I used PS v7.0 for years and years until a few years ago [2-3]. I don't find many improvements in CS2. They just pile up unnecessary code since v7. I can do everything in CS2 as in v7 or even 6, so I don't believe CS5 or 6 would be any different.

However, I'm now using GIMP and Inkscape, for a few years now. I just think Adobe sucks, and I hate seeing their name and logo on my computer... yuck.

But I must admit that Audition is a good deal for free. I tried it in a virtual machine, and it's really nicely streamlined multitrack recorder, supports MIDI, VST and VSTi... great software. It's also a great editor - Cool Edit Pro. it supports external controllers, too. It's a great deal for free. I'm not going to use it, though, due to bad taste in my mouth Adobe gives me. Reaper and Wavosaur works perfectly for me. This would feel like an intruder, an imposter in my OS. LOL

    Cheers!

Indeed, it's a great thing from Adobe. Like you'd need CS6000 to crop images and adjust color balance. Anyways, most of useful improvements are some typical functions put together, which toke couple extra mile with earlier versions. Now fully automatic, touch my magic ding ding dong and go style thingies.

Well.. anyways.. update from Adobe to the matter from other sources:

No, You Can't Download Adobe CS2 Applications For Free

Update: Following a frenzy of Internet activity — and some confusion — it appears that Adobe isn't giving away free copies of Adobe CS2.

    Adobe scientist Dov Isaacs clarifies:

On behalf of Adobe Systems Incorporated …

You have heard wrong! Adobe is absolutely not providing free copies of CS2!

What is true is that Adobe is terminating the activation servers for CS2 and that for existing licensed users of CS2 who need to reinstall their software, copies of CS2 that don’t require activation but do require valid serial numbers are available. (Special serial numbers are provided on the page for each product download.) See <http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1114930>.

Sorry for getting your hopes up and adding to the confusion.

    ——————————-

You are only legally entitled to download and install with that serial number if you have a valid license to the product!

If you have a digital creative streak but your budget doesn’t extend far enough to buy Adobe’s Creative Suite applications, this is for you. Adobe have made available an array of applications from its Creative Suite 2 bundle — for free.

Along with the ever-popular Photoshop CS2 are applications such as Premiere Pro CS2, InDesign CS2, and Illustrator CS2. If you want the whole bundle, the entire Creative Suite 2 is also available for download.

CS2 is not new by any standards — it was first released in April 2005 — but it’s still a fantastic offer and capable of some serious work. And when the cost is just the time it takes to download it, it’s a real bargain.

really.. who cares about old fashioned software? of course you can use it for basic stuff like crop a photo but if you are a graphic designer and you want to make a cutting edge work (in order to promote your work) you must use cutting edge software technology, so simple, same in music, if you want to be famous u must use NEW sounds like Darude did in 2000 and became famous with only 1 track, sandstorm.
