Hi all,

This regarding both versions 2.1.7 and 2.1.9

Apologies if this is a repeated question or I've posted in the incorrect subforum.

Addictive Drums 2 runs fine as a standalone. It runs as cracked without trial.

However, whenever I attempt to launch AD2 within Ableton Live 10 I initially receive this error message:



after which upon further attempts to open AD2 within the same instance I start receiving


I've attempted to reinstall both versions.
I've deleted reg files under HKEY_CURRENT_User\software\XLN Audio
I've deleted all files under C:\ProgramData\XLN Audio
I've also tried clearing and deleting \documents\Addictive Drums 2 and \Documents\Addictive Drums 2 Logs

but unfortunately, I've not had any further luck.

I don't suppose anybody has experienced this issue before and can recommend a solution? It's great being able to jam in standalone mode but I cannot for the life of me seem to get it working in its vst form anymore.

To add an extra level of bizarreness to the issue, 5 minutes after posting this thread, with literally the same instance of Ableton launched that I grabbed the error screenshot from, and it's now loading fine with zero issues.

I've now rebooted my pc as well and it's now launching with zero issues. I'll update the thread if the issue crops up again but otherwise, it seems like taking the effort to post about the issue fixed it! haha

 

I am getting the exact same issue to a T. I'd love to figure out what is causing this so we could fix it for myself and others.

 

Hello, i have the following problem. Im using the R2R 2.1.9 version of AD2. When I scan for the DLL files in FL 20 then it keeps scanning it. I waited for more then 5 minutws but it was still scanning it. The VST dll files are 3 kb. How is this possible? Pls help.

 

Im guessing you ran the AD2_Library_Placer exe and key etc ? i dont know FL so maybe you should start a fresh topic stating FL Addictive Drums 2 fail or something to attract the attention of the FL user's , ive installed 2.19 on loads of machines an at worst it only take seconds to scan ......... Gud luck dude .............

My problem is 2.1.9 is only working in Standalone because the vst version says its 2.1.7 and cant be loaded because vst version is 2.1.7 and not 2.1.9 strange

Mm I don't know. Did you use R2R? And did you have 2.1.7 version before? And what DAW is it?

Same problem. It keeps loading...but it doesnt appear...

The problem could be in Win 7....something must be missing...altough the standalone version is working fine...

 

As @No Avenger says, it should be correct. R2R patched plugins are generally optimised to use less space and perform better, as many times their NFOs explain that. The 3kb file is just a stub or a kind of shortcut or some kind of launcher/hook that runs the actual DLL placed somewhere else. Sometimes devs don't actually have a VST2 version of their plugin, so they just use this method to wrap a VST3 in a VST2. So the VST3 is the main DLL and VST2 is just a launcher.

On Windows, you can use Win32 functions to get the full path names of certain special important directories like System32, Program Files and many others. The exact path is sometimes different depending on language preferences so hardcoded path cannot be used directly. Now in Win10 there might be some new special folder which wasn't introduced in Win7. But you say it does work fine, so maybe it was just a privileges issue after all

 

The Standalone version works fine. But when I let FL scan for new plugins, it keeps scanning Addictive Drums 2.dll. After that i have to force the shutdown. And after that my PC is sounding like a huge amount of CPU is being used. CPU usage becomes 50%. When I force shutdown for iBridge it becomes normal again.

Right, I wasn't aware of this. It's linking an additional Addictive Drums 2.dll with ~ 5MB size (here to ProgramData\XLN Audio\VST64).

 

But the big question is: where is that additional 5 mb dll file. Maybe the solution is there?

Firstly

Secondly, use file manager (Windows Explorer) and search for 'Addictive Drums 2.dll' on C:\
If you find a 5MB file, that's not the problem, if you don't find one the installation went wrong.
In case you use a User Account on your machine, ADD must be installed with Admin rights.

 

Explorer can't find the 5 mb file. Only the 3 kb files. How about someone sends it to me? I runned the installer multiple times as admin...same results...

 

Until then i will have to import WAV files from the standalone version into FL 20

 

Until when? Have you checked your alerts?
