I have not installed a contact myself. With VSTi it is sometimes the case that some presets, as soon as you press 2 or 3 buttons, the CPU jumps to the 100% mark. Then I play the preset with just one key. When it comes to sound design, one looks more at the O dB limit than at the CPU. Some presets are so successful that you don't delete them just because they're CPU hungry.

Still figuring this stuff out despite getting unregistered libraries since 2019.

I have a PC with an 500GB M.2 drive as the computers main processing hard drive then a 4TB SD drive for storage. What I didn't realize at the start was when I installed a library with the native instruments installer it was automatically putting the 30-80gigs on my C drive instead of my storage drive (I was very green). I eventually clocked this and started storing them at the point of installation on the 4TB drive.

When the minified version of Audio Imperia Solo was released I got rid of the 83gig Library off my storage drive but this morning I realize the original version is still taking up 83Gb on my main C drive from the installation, despite me deleting the library, why is this? It's not just Solo, there's Cinesamples and other libraries that are taking up huge chunks of my C drive despite the library being located on my D drive, any explanations? Is it a case my PC still thinks it's there from the installation?

Well I didn't move Kontakt, just on a library install I would select the D drive as library location rather than C drive. And yes Audio Imperia original Solo library is definitely deleted.

Hello @Bllyboy, Best to create a folder on a second hard drive for your libraries. Then tell Kontakt where to find the libraries. Restart the PC so that the changes in the registry take effect. Everything else is user error. Of course it happens that Windows crashes files or produces errors. As it looks now, you have deleted everything from C./ and everything works?

"As it looks now, you have deleted everything from C./ and everything works?"

    - No, I haven't been storing libraries on the C./ for over 2 years, I put all libraries on the D drive( I actually have a 6TB E./ external drive now as well) and they that's where I've instructed kontakt to find them without issue. The problem seems to be with certain libraries -only ones that use the NI windows installer(that's the installer with the NI logo, not all libraries use this, Orch Tools/best service don't, Cinesamples/Audio Imperia/Native instrument libraries do) - seem to be registering their size to my C./ drive memory despite the actual content of the library being on D./ or E./drives. So I've deleted the entire Audio Imperia Solo library from D./, it's gone, no data left. But my C./ drive is showing it's occupying 83Gb. I can't find it anywher on C./

Ah, the 83 GB thing is interesting. Can you take some pictures of that? Do you have an exact path?
Can you go to it and find out if this file is write protected?

Is it a "NCW" File? - Solo (Lyrical And Expressive Soloists For Kontakt Player) - Approximately 90 GB installed (NCW format).

    What you can do?

    1.) Run windows as admin --> https://www.digitalcitizen.life/run-as-admin/

2.) LockHunter is a foolproof file unlocker
It is a free tool to delete files blocked by something you do not know. LockHunter is useful for fighting against malware, and other programs that are blocking files without a reason. Unlike other similar tools it deletes files into the recycle bin so you may restore them if deleted by mistake.

Then it is not uninstalled properly. Why don't you delete everything manually.

But the 83Gb library is deleted, completely gone. So are you telling me there's another imaginary 83Gb on my C./ Drive? Does an 83Gb library actually take up 166Gb of space in total?

I can't look inside your PC, unfortunately. Take some pictures etc.!
Download " TreeSize Free " https://www.jam-software.com/treesize_free and post the result.

So in the Pic you can see it's showing Audio Imperia Solo as taking up 83.7Gb on my C./ drive but all that content is deleted and I never saved to the C./ drive. ( Same goes for Landforms and Jaeger, I still have those libs but they're not on my C./drive.

You installed the "Audio Imperia Solo" once and that's why it appears in Apps & Features.
This entry does not mean that you have 83 GB on your hard disk.
If you uninstall something you should also use the uninstaller or just uninstall the program via Apps & Features.

    Download " TreeSize Free " https://www.jam-software.com/treesize_free

Correct. I uninstalled Solo and all it did was get rid of the minified content as this was stored where I had the original 83Gb library. So that's that mystery solved, thanks for all the help. You can vouch for this treesize software? It won't get rid of any useful files?

It's not necessarily related to Windows, it's more a general Portable issue, but how do you add the Factory Library to your install with Kontakt Portable? I tried to do it the usual way with the manager, but it's telling me it's not installed on the computer, and I don't have any installers in my Factory Library folder. What can I do?

You need to put the 'Kontakt Factory Library.nicnt' file in the factory folder and re-scan with your library manager.

Thanks! It worked. For some reason that file got deleted when I first tried to add the library.
