Acoustic Foam - what would you suggest?

    Hi

    I need a some good advises regarding quality vs prices on Acoustic Foam ...... been around but the whole thing is a bit confusing!!

    Please share your experiences with me *yes*

    If your really serious you will have to rent an RTA to do your room. it will show where the deficiencies are. Then buy the right foam to counteract the deficiencies. ie bass traps in the corners or foam on one wall to combat standing waves at a certain frequency. Learn about acoustics a bit or you won't fix anything and just be parted with your cash. :wink:

    Short answer: don't buy foam (I'm sure there will be opposing opinions, this is just mine)

    I did a heap of research on this topic a while ago and found a lot of useful info in old threads on this forum.

    Basically I found that DIY acoustic panels (rockwool) are the way to go for first reflections
    Super chunk corner traps to tame wide band low reflections.
    And limp mass or panel absorbers for specific frequencies.

    You should be able to find software to help identify problem areas.
    It's quite complicated so if you're not already this way inclined maybe consider hiring someone else to do it.


    Oh and side note: This all applies to treatment of the sound inside the room and doesn't help with isolation (soundproofing).

    a lil bit offtopic, but how do you guys deal with more than 1 TFT Screen, and how to preserver the equal triangle ?

    Lets say we have 2 or 3 tfts which are together 168 cm width.
    Thats gives you a distance to the tfts of 145cm according to the calculator: http://www.calculatorsoup.com/calculators/geometry-plane/triangles-equilateral.php

    How do you read somthing on your screens that far away :) ?
