someone know why acess virus got discontinued? i always wanted one

also.. does it make sense to get one when we have spire, serum, omnisphere, nexus etc? and the DSP emulation.

 

If you want hardware with hands-on controls, yes. If I had some throwaway money I'd get Virus TI2. DSP emulation showed me how great it is. Otherwise you can run as many as you like with a powerful PC in your DAW, and the emulation is it minus DA converters. That's why I say throwaway money. I'm comfortable working with it as it is. And then you have my former band partner who loves having hands-on controls and prefers hardware. To each his own, I guess.

 

The competition is too big; production of the Virus TI was no longer generating enough profits and was discontinued. Yes, DSP emulation is perfect. Get it and save your money for more important things. Go on vacation sometime...!

 

As someone already pointed out, the products generate not enough profit. He invented Kemper Amps, a major success, and chose to focus on it as all sane creator/businessman would.

If you want the access virus, go download the OsTIrus plugin from the usual suspects’ website, unfortunately you will need roms for it to work but there may be an egg or two from the other library that has them, can’t post mine here either.

you get Virus TI/2 as a whole in the comfort of your computer with no restrictions other than how many instances your hardware can handle, it’s a 100% authentic version and there’s plenty of patches to add to it as well

you could also get Osiris but it’s a little redundant when TI is the same as the A/B/C models but better, unless you’re looking to play original patches from those models, TI version is your best bet!

 

Well... we do know... the DSP chip is no longer manufactured. Kemper is the reason development stopped. Stock depletion/no longer available parts is why production ended. Development stopped 15 years ago already. Just took until last year for their parts stock to fully deplete.
