    1. Will I need to re-install all of my plugins? (hopefully not!)
    2. To test the waters a bit, I set up a partition, loaded Catalina onto it along with Live 10.1.4 and installed just a couple plugins on that partition. Catalina is not letting Melodyne load into Ableton b/c it's not a signed/authorized file. Any workarounds?
    Thanks!

I have Catalina on a secondary SSD.
    • Keygen Apps for Win Keygens don't work
    • A lot of installers don't work due to missing signatures
    • T-Racks 4 no longer works because you cannot run the Authorizer.
    • iLok v1 exploit by ssh no longer works. Which means no Softtube, McDSP and all those goodies on Catalina
    • Waves StudioRack no longer works because it's a v9 plugin in 32 Bit
    • Some other annoyances…
I stay on High Sierra as long as possible. The only positive things I have to say about it: dark mode is cool and firefox seems to run faster.

    1. Click the Apple symbol () in the menu bar on your Mac's desktop.
    2. Click on About This Mac.
    3. Choose "System Report" at the bottom of the window.
    4. Scroll down to the Software list on the sidebar.
    5. Select Legacy Software."
Anything in the list of Legacy Software applications is a 32-bit app and will not work when upgrading to ‌macOS Catalina‌.

the "Legacy Software" check feature was added in Mojave, so not applicable for older MacOS versions,
also I'd say that check is not always right, it can flag 64bit apps too just because they're older and such..

    did you update to catalina?

If i am on Mojave and have ableton 10.1.3 and few other apps already installed that are not legacy software, would they still work if i upgraded to Catalina? or would the Catalina upgrade prevent those type of apps to not work even though they were installed in Mojave?

id also appreciate any input from anyone that's upgraded from Mojave to Catalina with applications that were already installed in mojave. thanks!!

    Why?

I wouldn't do it unless i was prepared to be troubleshooting plugins and apps that Apple think are no longer relevant.
It's possible, it's also just a whole lot of hassle.

True, Thank you for your input. you cleared the air for me & probably other people wondering the same thing!

I just wanted a second opinion before i went through trial n error and wasted my time, I didn't see many people on the threads talking about upgrading with programs pre-installed. I will not update after all

forget 32bit apps in Catalina unless you want to lose your SSD drive...

Apple has their own kill switch and in addition to this they refuse o share documents with data recovery software such as Diskwarrior....if anything they offer free apps that require internet connection to see what users are doing.,

the purpose of Apple behaving like this is to get the max profits as possible out of throw away devices which will be obsolete in a the next few years based on new laws forcing companies to comply with environment concerns as well as fixit yourself or replace parts- mods, but don't hold your breath as they will try to drag this out as far as 10 more years or when people had enough in congress.

Upgrade to Catalina, everything works! The best OS till date. All my plugins work, there's a way around the ones that don't and it's unbelievably easy.

I've been trying to find what level of performance Logic Pro would get on Mojave running in a VM (such as on a 16" Macbook Pro). Do you have any notes or advice on performance running Logic Pro in Parallels or another VM?
