It’s hard to imagine modern EDM production without good distortion plugin. Distortion is one of those plugins you will need to make your bassline or synth sound filthier and fatter. And this time we are presenting you our free multi-band distortion rack “Distort3r” for Ableton Live 9.

Distort3r is a multi-band distortion effect which can be used to apply different amounts of distortion to three individual frequency bands. This is a handy technique when used sparingly, for adding a bit of polish to the top end without affecting the bass frequencies. The technique can also be used in a no holds barred manner, for creating modern bass sounds with heavy mid range grit.

The effect rack offers easy control over eight parameters, using macro knobs. The user can tweak the amount of distortion on each individual band on the go, along with master gain and output volume.
The rack is available for direct free download without registering. Simply hit the Download button on the page linked below to get your free copy of Distort3r.

    Installation:
Simply drag and drop Abletunes – Distort3r.adg into MIDI/Audio track in Ableton or copy it to:

    Thanks for the info temple23,
seems promising, gonna try this asap. I use AudioDamage Kombinat and that's pretty good for multiband distortion,
but lately I always try to use stock plug-ins where possible, also this seems more aimed at moderate distorsion
good for adding character and grit, while Kombinat it's more for sound raping needs lol

yep, Kombinat is really good (as loadsof AudioDamage stuff), also I use Ohmicide, D16 Decimor & Devastor and of course Trash2 , others amazing tools. Without forgetting the native Live plugins as Saturator, Amp, Overdrive, Dynamic Tube etc… which are very very well done.

Fabfilter Saturn is my multiband distortion plugin of choice. But always appreciate any kind of new ableton racks to add to my library!

I have been trying to use the native plugins in ableton more and more but as well cant do without the Ohmicide Trash2 and Kombinat

    There is this as well:
Abletunes has recently released Selektor, an interesting $35 sampler instrument designed for speeding up the beat making process. This VST/AU plugin will soon be reviewed on BPB.

I have ignored the native ableton plugins in the past and am realising now that i was missing out on some good effects right under my nose...

Yeah thanks temple23, this looks good. We love dist :grooves: and I also use Trash a lot.
But I agree that native Live plugins are well done, I tested them seriously for the first time on my track for the AudioSexed album and liked them very much. Used them to manipulate some of the bass and drums and a lot of the vocals in my track.
