I have a problem that I got audio crackles and spikes already on 30-40 % usage of CPU shown on meter. My system is Macbook Pro 15 (Mid 2015) running Mojave and Apollo 8 as audio interface. When I put test tone in Ableton Live and put CPU usage simulator on 80% I dont have spikes and crackles. I tried lowering frames to 15 fps but didnt help. Tried few versions of ableton also ( 10.1, 10.1.4, 10.1.13.)
Does someone know what can I do... i am thinking about hard reset of laptop but thats last option...

if your charging from the left ports on your macbook pro this is why, it use to happen to me and this was the problem I thought it was something to do with external monitors even the apple tech guys didn't know it was an issue. But yeah I found this out after searching on google for ages surprised it hasn't been mentioned more often. But yeah only charge from the right ports.

 

Hmm what do you mean when you say charging? On left side on macbook pro I plug power for Macbook, thunderbolt cable for Apollo, and there is one usb port I use for hard drive or usb hub...

 

reset NVRAM and SMC, change your charging port to the right side if you use the left one
also, ableton is super CPU hungry by default, try logic pro x and you will see a night and day difference

Already did reset of NVRAM and SMC few times, still dont get what do you mean with charging port, theres only one slot for Macbook power adapter on left side. If is crypto miner then hard reset is option?
