I don't think this is an insulting perspective to mention at ALL Shatterling! It is true. I was raised and learned the same way you did, and the tools offered in different DAWs these days make our lives so much easier, etc, and a lot of newcomers to the field haven't had the blessing or opportunity to work the old fashioned way, where these skills and workflows HAD to be understood. Absolutely helps. And goes a LONG way to understanding what is going on under the hood... absolutely decent point!

 

They've been putting a shitload of time into developing new features for Push and Push 2. And while I can appreciate this because it benefits me, if I were a non-Push using Ableton owner, I'd be getting a little sour by now. Nested grouping and take comping are two of the 5 most requested features. They've been asking for a couple years now.

I don't want to be too critical of Live because I understand they only have so much manpower to go around, but it's a little frustrating that there's no transparency with the user base as to what they are/aren't working on. Compare this to u-he, who posts on KVR a few times a week and constantly updates his customers on what's being developed, what the setbacks are, how he's addressing it, etc. U-he's forum is positively buzzing, and it's because we feel appreciated as customers.
