Just got an email earlier today to say it's coming soon...

Available soon, the latest Live update brings a host of new features that means big improvements for beatmakers.

    New beatmaking features
Improved sample slicing functions, a new 16-velocity drum layout and a bunch of other other on-screen workflow improvements mean slicing, recording and programming beats is better than ever with Push.

    Music at your fingertips
Live 9 can open up a world of new creative possibilities – and Push puts it all at your fingertips.

A creative Daw should be a fast Daw. Today abeton is to slow to call it creative.
Live 8 x64 with all his problems of delay is still better than any Live 9.

    Yeah, 3930k extreme, 6 core, 3.8ghz, 32gb ram

Most of other daws is 10x faster on the same computer.

this is a ableton problem, not my computer. just search the internet and you will find thusands of people talking the same thing.

I don't have any CPU issues, ableton use about 15% of my CPU. Is this daw that is slow compared to all other daws in the planet.
look Fl studio, cubase, logic etc. all of them, when you click in something, it responds in real time while ableton takes so long for all actions.
I see that on tutorials, Mac, Windows. It's always slow.

Ableton is probably one of the fastest DAWs out there. The latest one has given me little stress.....the odd crash here andthere due to faulty plugs, but that's about it.

Ableton Live 9.7 needs to have an option to have the track controls on the left and the browser on the right side,ie, essentially ability to flip the interafce(in arrangement view) for fuck's sake.

    ableton runs fine here.
the main problem with ableton is, that it doesnt handle a million plugins well, because it always scans them at the beginning, you can turn this off with a command.
for now it closes fast here and i dont have a really fast cpu. do you have SSD? because this speed it significant up.

    EDIT:
just test 9.7b1 runs flawless, once the plugins are scanned its opening fast for me.

I never had that happen with Live.
My Laptop is a 7 year dinosaur with a hard drive that is dying, yet Live is always super fast.
So anyway, maybe if you have faster DAWs, that enhance your creativity more than Live,
    you should just use them.
Then you don't need to either worry about it or whinge about it.

I wish Ableton had a button for your instrument that is on a midi track and one for showing you the effects that is on a track just by clicking on that track... now you have to select the track the click on the corner down the click on the little button that shows you the vsti... more like Studio One... or even FL... anyway from this update they will work on v10 from now on probably...

...as for its slowness ... I do find it a bit slow comparing to other daws... not always... and I do have a ssd 32 gb ram too...

Has 'audition in place' been implemented yet or are you still double-clicking samples/presets?

Add -ShowDeviceSlots to an Options.txt file at C:\Users\your name\AppData\Roaming\Ableton\Live 9.x.x\Preferences and you get this:

The only thing that I really wait from Ableton is improvement on working with Video.... =3

I don't like this feature when you change tempo it's changing the bar placement for your whole 'track'....
in general it's possible to work with videos, but you have to think about sync points in advance....and if you would want to change your decision it would ruin your whole project =(

Other than that Ableton is #1!

maybe it's because my projects are too big for ableton, that's why my main DAW is Cubase, you can put 1000 tracks and the DAW still fast as 10 tracks.
Ableton is fast at the first tracks. But after 60 tracks it doesn't work well anymore. My projects tend to be 150 tracks, and becomes a nightmare to finish them, and this influences pretty bad on the mixing.
Also the feeling of the fader should be better, with mouse scroll support, this little thing make a tremendous difference.
