Yooo, what I’ve been doing lately is taking some of my themes I had for 11 , and duplicating them to live 12 themes folder. I’m going through them one by one and most of them just have the top buttons text too dark. I’ve just been opening rhe xml file for the theme and changing “transportbackgroundoff” R G B diff variations of grays depending on the theme. I couldn’t figure out how ti change the text color for those buttons so I’m just sticking w changing the button colors . I spent a good week trying to figure this out , also I downloaded kaleidoscope for Mac to compare 11’s XML and 12’s and you can see what is different. I can post in a few when I get to my mac

Fundamentally, Ableton's look can't be changed except for colors. I too would really like to change corner radii of some elements, add a bit more depth to others or change their size. Unfortunately, that's impossible. The whole UI is in code, afaik, meaning unless you have direct access to it, you can't change those things. I do wonder though, why Ableton themselves don't round out some really sharp edges of some elements, but I guess that's an aesthetic choice. After all, I'm someone who also prefers the overall design of MacOS post-Big Sur and Windows 11 to 10, so there's that.

The only fully customisable DAW is Reaper, but there are also some constraints, so...if you want something different there's no other way except creating your own DAW, quite literally.

So yeah, if you don't like Live's interface, just use another DAW. I keep trying it every year, but come back to Logic, even though Live has a better and faster workflow.

 

That's perhaps the best Live skin I've ever seen. Great job!

Here's Live 11's Mid Dark Theme" compared to Live 12's Classic Medium Dark -- shows what has been added and removed from 11's theme to 12's...you couldmake a copy of 12's ask and go thru and edit each sections colors if you wanted ,
maybe compare it to what sectiions are actually on the livethemes.co editor

I was just going to ask if I can create a pro tools mixer or a Mackie style if I can code in Python.

After reading some reddit, I think im referring to changing source code... which i cant.

What about cycling74 and API's?.. wouldnt that work?

HOwever, I guess there;s a reason there are only skins out there... vs someone that coded a "Logic", or "Pro-Tools" version.

In Logic for instance, you can choose themes that... OMG... have actual different knobs.

Different sliders etc.
Im assuming not allowed in Live...
