I am getting this error in the latest AudioWarez release

 

I have just blocked inbound and outbound connections in Windows Defender as usual. I have reinstalled Ableton, and it is working well now.

I suggest you start using a virtual network card and this way you can disable the local connection with a batch and the other one will be a dummy connection going nowhere ( setup an IP scheme and delete the Local Gateway address). This keeps some applications happy since they are hitting sockets but don't get any replies.

Why is this important? Because when you block sockets with a firewall any application that has network socket calls will throw an error programmed into it it's expecting open sockets. When using a Virtual Network card that application can hit the sockets on that connection but gets no replies since there is no local gateway or DNS entry to send it anywhere.

Many companies are now starting to look for open sockets and throw errors if they are blocked.

Another aspect of this Virtual Network card is network based licensed applications will have their licenses tied to that virtual network card while your main connection can be disable while you run that particular application.

A virtual network card can have a different IP scheme than your main one, it can also have any mac address ( spoof ) you choose to it's hardware properties.

 

@Dan Fuerth Thanks for your really useful info. It makes sense. Ableton must have changed something with the new version. Previous versions didn’t show such errors. I have never used such software. Any recommendation?

 

What happens if you create a firewall rule to allow it? That lets the socket open normally, and then using a hosts file entry of 0.0.0.0 null-routes the outbound traffic to a blackhole.

If the problem is created by your firewall, don't over complicate it.

 

Hello @nmkeraj, It's more likely your PC; check carefully if you have a VPN enabled, if anything is blocked in the firewall, then you should uninstall Ableton, restart your PC and reinstall Ableton.

WinError 10013 in this context means Windows is blocking Ableton’s network (RPC) connection, usually via firewall, antivirus, VPN, or a conflicting process using the same port.

- “An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions” = the port Ableton needs is blocked or reserved.
- Causes include: firewall rules, security software, Windows network services (e.g. Host Network Service), or another app already bound to that port.

Check antivirus / security suite
- Temporarily disable third‑party antivirus and any “network protection” or “web shield” features, then start Ableton.
- If the error disappears, create an exception in that security suite for Ableton’s executable and its network activity, then re‑enable protection.

Check for port conflicts
If you know the port Ableton’s RPC uses (often in its log file or error message), you can see if something else is using it:
- Open Command Prompt as admin, run:
netstat -ano
- If another PID shows as LISTENING on that port, close that app or change its configuration so it doesn’t use the same port.

2.) Uninstall Ableton and make a Clean Install ---> Ableton Live Suite v12.3.6-Audiowarez

Delete:
C:\Users\YourName\Documents\Ableton

Uninstall and please delete (it's a hidden folder):
C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Roaming\Ableton
C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\Ableton
C:\ProgramData\Ableton

Registry --> Regedit
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Ableton
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ableton

After the deletion process restart the PC.

3.Install this version and strictly follow the instructions!

Ableton Live Suite v12.3.6-Audiowarez

1. Install Ableton Live
2. Patch Ableton Executable.
Drag and Drop Ableton.exe / Ableton Beta.exe to ABLETON PATCHER.exe
3. Open Ableton and Run ABLETON KEYGEN.exe and generate license file
4. Drag Lisense file Inside the program.

You find the Ableton in: C:\ProgramData\Ableton [it's a Hidden Folder]
