Hey guys, appreciate that you're here !

My problem was when i PLUGGED my Midi cables from my keyboard into Midi ports on the audio interface (I'm using an USB a/i) then my a/i went down.

I'm thinking about it was lack of vontage from my energy source (a laptop) or such a bad issue of my a/i ?

Please leave a comment if you have any idea about this. Thanks !

Do you have a chance to use a USB port from the keyboard to the Interface?

It would help if we knew what computer, interface and keyboard you were talking about.

how does it go down? do you have a daw running?
got other midi devices? (yes those with usb count)

If midi gives weird behavior, you should try midi-ox too see if you'll get it running there (the name is kinda misleading, its available for win)
it's perfect for troubleshooting midi problems

Also, check that you have the latest drivers and firmware for your audio interface.

Try unplugging all other USB devices.

Maybe try unplugging the 'a/i'; then plugin your midi cables to a/i, then plug the a/i back into the laptop.

Make sure that your phantom power is off?

Try using a different USB cable from a/i to PC - use a shorter more robust one. Like 2 long.

Use a different USB port on your laptop

Change your power management settings to HIGH PERFORMANCE and make sure that USB suspend (or, whatever it is) is turned off, as well as changing to 'background services" (in System - in ctrl panel) while you're at it.

Try using just 1 midi cable, from out (keys) to in (a/i)

MIDI doesn't require *voltage (not vontage) from your audio interface, if you are using MIDI connectors. The MIDI keyboard/synth is powered, so it handles the voltage.

MIDI output (synth/keyboard/MIDI controller) to MIDI input on your audio interface, and you should be good to go.

Add additional power supply for your audio interface if needed. Most of them have additional jack for 9-12v or similar.

Hi. Nice problem on a saturday...
Power off everything, disconect all cables, power each piece of gear on, then off again.
Verify each piece of gear separately, if in doubt.
Re-conect the keyboard, the audio interface, midi and usb.
Power on in order: keyboard, usb interface, computer.
It should work. If not, something is defective. Check every piece of gear in reverse order of the signal path (i.e.: first the computer, the usb cable, the interface, the midi cables' conectors - make sure they aren't audio cables..., then the keyboard).
Also, check if everything is properly grounded. Electrical potential differences can 'freeze' electronic equipment. Make sure that at least one piece of gear's chassis (like the outer ring of midi cables, etc.) is linked to ground/earth. If everything is powered by ac adaptors, and there's no ground connection between the equipment and the ac power wall outlet, use a reasonably thin electric wire and ground everything - for grounding point, you can use a metallic water pipe that runs through the walls, an outer drain pipe, etc. Or ask an electrician to make a ground point - there are certain regulations (the grounding's dc resistance should measure less than 4 ohm).
    Good luck solving the problem.

Make sure the HOST SELECT switch on the back of the keyboard is set to MIDI.
Also make sure you have the right MIDI template loaded on the keyboard. Set it as the Master Keyboard if you just want to control your VST plugins and not use it's built in sounds. If this is the case, also turn off Local Control.

Pages 128-132 if you don't already have this.

As Pinkman already said, I would try to switch off local control, see "local control" site 132 in your manual. By switching off local control the midi signal goes out of your keyboard/synth into the daw /sequencer and from there back to the Keyboard/synth to play the sounds. If you don't switch off local control you get a midi signal confusion. If the problem does not occure if you only connect keyboard out to midi in of you're midi interface, it's sure that's the local off problem, I think.

Found this on an ASUS forum: Try turning off power management for ALL the USB Root Hubs in the Device Manager:
I.E. In Device Manager>USB root hub properties>Power management> untick the box that "allows the computer to turn off this device to save power"

Anyone thought he might have a cross wired or bad cable?
He did say when he plugs in his midi cables his A/I goes down.
