Unfortunately they can't be successful in the Pop world. They're college students being trained by music educators.

Bizarreness and stupidness are the accepted norms for the Pop but their teachers can not teach them to act like that so they'll stay poor.

 

Choruses still sing everywhere, most aren't doing it to get famous.

Was about average for what kid's choruses where.

Sting is portraying a creepy stalker in this song. It's ironic that young girls are singing it.

Yes for some reason choirs and tele contest auditions love songs about stalkers and drugs. S. McLaughlin's, Angel about a friend being addicted to heroin and it causing his death is big with quasi religious choirs and auditions too.

You can add, We Found Love, Dead Flowers, Brown Sugar, There She goes and Got to Get You into My Life to the list as well.

Honestly though it's just kids having fun and singing for fun.
