I loaded an almost big audio clip inside FL Studio (unchecked Auto keep long audio on disk) and took a look at the consumed RAM in the task manager. It showed 1.5GB. Then optimized the memory with this tool and the RAM usage for FL Studio drastically reduced to 5MB. So great!

For another test, launched more than 10 programs and the memory indicator inside Task Manager reached about 70%, after optimization indicator decreased to 25% without any trouble.:disco:

Indeed, a great utility and far more better than the other stuff on the market. Thanks for the tip!

It's probably the best free RAM optimizer. And check Wise Game Booster too. Of course gaming is not producing music but still worth a look.

I normally use the ASCare Suite for optimization but it's not free.

I like Advance system care, it is amazing because you can actually disable programs from startup.

it also has a similar boost feature, but this works like a charm  and free!

But remember that these kind of things is not that much useful when you have already lots of free space, because the software collects all the ram and then reallocate them to ram, and the additional rams are written to the page file.
Use it when your system is under high load, which this can be a quick ram restart. like when your ram is full in a DAW season.

so you tell fl studio to load even the long audio clips into ram and then use this program to remove the audio out of ram
i dont see how that is optimizing a fuction that anyone that unchecked that option who would prefer the speed of access by having the audio held in ram by reducing it down to 5mb.
hence dumping the contents of ram to a page file.
thus making the audio on disk rather than being in ram which unchecking the option dose.

it be like if i told ablton to load a clip in ram but it stays on the disk.

think of it logically if all the audio clips in the project are greater than 5mb how can it reduce to 5mb

FL Studio's internal numbers for RAM and CPU are different than Task Manager's. Although in Task Manger you see 5MB but inside FLS, that 1.5GB is being shown and no sign of decrease in the amount of RAM is visible. Sorry for FLS didn't work.:dunno:

I haven't tested for other DAWs. Waiting for other persons' reports.

Why would you want to swap everything to your much slower SSD (or even HDD) instead of just using the RAM the way it's meant to be used? :dunno:

Just overcoming the shortage of RAM specially for people working with large sample libraries eg in orchestral music.

My Lord, I have a cunning plan! Befuddle the Duke of Redmond -- instal rebel nix on a pirated copy of his own Windoze!! in a VM!!

Install WINE on that, and ...no, wait, M'Lord, my plan is even more cunning! Install another VM on that copy of nix, install a different flavor of nix on that VM, and on
that install WINE! Then you can run Windows software :)

uh, upgrade your ram maybe? Its cheap these days. You should have at leat 8 or 16 gigs if your serious about making music. More if youre a pro for those huge kontakt libs after you purge the unused samples.
LoL @ defrag ram, what a gimmick. Some people will belive anything. Its designed to read and write all over the place hence the name RANDOM Access Memory. Defragging it makes zero difference. Now your page file is a different story if its on a hdd.

    1. upgrade ram: I can't. DDR2 8GB limit in my old MOBO
    2. upgrade mobo: I can't. I would have to upgrade almost my entire computer
    3. upgrade computer: I can't. Too much money for what I use it for
    4. kill yourself: I can't. Too old for rock'n roll but too young to die

Solution: I'll buy a simple liquid cooler to OC my CPU from 3 to 4.5 Ghz. 50 euros max.

Now seriously. Windows and its caches/paging files/etc aren't that effective for special situations like using very heavy sample VSTIs. And in my case my fastest PC component is my SSD drive.

As soon as I see that "standard Chinese software website template", I move to something else.
Just google couple of these companies and compare the design yourself:
Boilsoft, Apowersoft, easefab, Winavi, AnyMP4, WinX, Tipard, Allavsoft, VideoSolo, AnyVideo, IOBit, Glarysoft, WiseCleaner, CoolUtils...the list goes on.

They are all run by the same group of people and are very easily distinguishable since they mainly specialize in video/audio/document converters, rippers, system optimizer, registry cleaners, smartphone apps, usually offering pretty extensive list of software titles. However, the best part is that all of these apps are compiled from the same source code base. The only difference is the GUI and branding. Why let someone else take a piece of the market if you can become your own competitor.

In addition, none of them have any detailed info about company background or an actual address, just some generic bs. Sometimes they try really hard to cover up by pretending to be headquartered somewhere else (frequently in Europe) and pay some white people to pose for their websites lol

One of the best scams I've ever came across.

Agreed. It's the best Windows optimization suite I know. And the memory optimizer works exactly the same as the Wise one commented by the OP. But being free it's really a plus for the typical help to a friend beginner with his computer.

Although I find the startup manager of ASC its weakest point, used to the Glarys Utilities one. The manual one, I mean. You're talking about the automatic which performs quite good.

SSD is enough for sample libraries. There can be a waste of RAM just like @foster911 says.

You've a point because, at least the memory optimizer has (almost) exactly the same functionality with ASCare and Wise ones.
The important thing for me is that they work fine. well, at lesat ASC. But obviously if you're right it's unfair competence.

I knew something smells very fishy about the low end video converters/utilities. IDK if this is also true.
