Walk That Bass is all about Jazz and Blues. Jazz is a broad and complex genre of music which can be challenging to grasp. It's difficult to even know where to start. This is where this YouTube channel steps in. It offers free Jazz Piano Tutorials that cover everything you need to play the Blues and Jazz.

His goal in creating this website is to help those who are interested in learning to play and appreciate Jazz. It tries to combine both practical and theoretical aspects, so that you will be able to play Jazz, but also understand why the thing you are playing sounds good (or bad).

These Jazz tutorials cover everything from Jazz chords, improvisation, Jazz scales, chord substitution, reharmonization, chord voicings, comping and everything else you need to become a competent and professional sounding Jazz musician.

It's in the post. You can also google:
    Walk That Bass

It's mostly good for Jazz improvisation and sounds (though to some extent applicable to other genres too) but not a common language for all music because such thing has not been made yet.

Sry Oly. I added some info. Not a thoroughgoing course but good for getting acquainted with the theory's general terminologies and putting them into practice.

    Hi Nought,

Really excellent, but now I'm going to accuse you of 'underselling' your resource. :)

When I peeked at the Youtube channel I initially thought "ok - similar to lots of other stuff",
but on that page I also found the link to your site at http://www.thejazzpianosite.com
and this raised my interest a lot more.

I accept that many people are addicted to video-only material, hence you informing us of your youtube channel,
but (for me - and maybe others) the real gem here is your online stuff at http://www.thejazzpianosite.com

So, please excuse me promoting on your behalf...

I recommend people look at this page http://www.thejazzpianosite.com/jazz-piano-lessons/
for a really impressive list of interesting musical concepts that you offer tutorials for.

And I also grabbed this image from your pdf file, which, as the image says, is merely a subset of what you're offering.

    Wonderful - very nicely done.

    p.s. here's an odd disclaimer...
I am not actually a fan of lots of jazz music,
but I am very enthusiastic about the musical insights offered in jazz tutorials (like yours).

It's not the language has been used for centuries for creating art music in Europe. Art music's world is totally different than the one been sketched by Jazz. Most people think that the only distinguishing feature of Jazz is its using of extended chords but it's not true. The differences are more than that.

OK, that is funny, and I'll happily accept egg-on-face for being conned. :)
Thanks for the clarification and for updating your post so that no-one else gets fooled.

Now that I/We know it isn't actually your site, I'm still very glad you highlighted it.
It's a good site; a nice example of high-quality educational resources.

It doesn't matter who's site is it. It seems well organized. I didn't get deep into it though.

He is very prolific and heck I don't know how it is possible to create so much content.
That is not to say that I do not find such stuff useful sometimes and of course, I very much appreciate the people that create content be it in blog or vlog format as it does keep me on my toes and with many different lenses and filters to make use of and then apply it to my work (when I have the chance the do so).

I've been absent for nearly 4 years due to fulltime single parenting which made my free time evaporate rapidly,
It is very good to be jumping back on the horse so to speak. Missed the few forums I use, Especially the banter.

Cheers and all the best, Same sentiments to all

We can speak for hours that which course is good or not so good. These courses have some common characteristics that they deal with matters diversely and inconsistently. Each one of these topics belongs to particular historical periods that have been practised in those periods and have been formulated by their pertinent theorists.

Studying these topics fragmentarily and unconnectedly, in fact doesn't fastidiously straighten out our compositional problems. Putting these patchy topics together has always been the biggest challenge in the way of making a true art. :dunno:
