    As the title says.

I am looking for a trusted and safe Windows 10 screen recorder that can capture what ever is happening on a screen from my DAW, and as my audio interface is Asio, can capture sound from the asio?

I know a lot of Gamers are able to capture game play and so on but I want to capture my DAW

So many show up in a google search and I do not know what ones are good, bad or trustworthy.

Dont care if its a commercial app or free.

I'm asking as this is something I have not needed before.

    Many thanks?

Frindelek is speaking about OBS Studio.
    Open Broadcaster Software.
Free and open source software for video recording and live streaming.
Works on Windows, Mac or Linux.

Ice Cream Screen capture is pretty nice and easy to use.

Does it also record the sound from ASIO interface?

If what you're doing is getting trickier in an audio routing-recording sense, e.g., recording the audio from both a microphone and a DAW output into a screen recorder (i.e., any screen recorder with an audio input), consider working with voicemeeter to sort out the audio routing issues.
    e.g., https://vb-audio.com/Voicemeeter/banana.htm

update-edit... this video covers the relevant stuff

camtasia combine with VST recorder in your DAW. record audio in the DAW, since ASiO is not support directly.
Virtual audio cables take some time to setup.

For streaming on twitch OBS works fine, if you want to edit a video for youtube for example camtasia works better, since it records mouse position separate, so you can enhance the mouse size for example. You can also create basic transitions, intro/outro.

think this topic was discussed all lengths 2-3 times here already.

I Recommend Bandicam. Easy Interface and it has a good compression which makes the Videofiles much smaller as Camtasia etc.

And here is an tutorial on how to record your asio devices with Bandicam and Voicemeter.

As far as I know this would be my list if I was the OP:
    1. OBS Studio: free, trustworthy and it has almost direct support for ASIO. A plugin maybe, don't remember exactly

The other two that doesn't support ASIO directly but you can manage with that mentioned vbaudio program:
    2. Bandicam: a beast. Undisputed king of velocity. It's just incredible how fast it is
    3. Camtasia: a bit too much but the best if you want to do medium-heavy editing after the recording

Thanks for that recommendation - just tried it - agree it's nice and easy to use.
    Can't agree with this though
Audio playback devices (on W7) have a setting "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device"
Even with that setting disabled, once you have an application using ASIO as its driver, IceCream recorder fails to capture Audio.
So it's just like most other recorders. Use something like MME as audio driver and it's fine, but choose ASIO and you're screwed.
    Xupito's summary above remains intact.
    OBS + its ASIO plugin
    or
Any screen recorder + virtual drivers found in Voicemeeter.

Viocemeeter (or Banana) are great and easy to setup, and work with any screen recording sw.
However with ASIO in my system added a bit of latency, enough to be revealed by ear.

Odeus Asio Link Pro (ASIO router) on the other side seems not to have that issue, basically AFAIK is (cracked) abandonware, it is very powerful, it can route anything into anything, but it takes a while to learn it and to exploit all its potential.

Just enjoying exploring all these recommendations.
    Have now verified the following...
    • working with devices that prefer to use ASIO drivers (instruments, DAWs, etc) - and can be several at once,
    • all simultaneously routing through Odeus Asio Link Pro (ASIO router)
    • audio-visually capturing the entire chaos using Ice Cream recorder.
    • Superb ASIO flexibility
Re: @orbitbooster's caution about Odeus Asio Link Pro
that caution needs updating to "your brain will melt more than the Ice Cream"
but apart from that - eventually - this all works really well.
Was worth the effort, and after the initial brain-melt period getting it all set up, it's actually simple and quick to use.

Haven't yet ventured into the networking capabilities of Odeus Asio Link Pro
but that looks like a very promising bonus - one day.

    Voxengo Recorder free
    Recorder Plugin

Recorder is an utility audio VST plugin which allows you to record the output of the channel or bus into the stereo WAV file of specified bit depth. Routing to MME (multimedia extensions) soundcard is also supported.

That's a great 'cheap and cheerful' plugin - does what it's supposed to do very well.
Or go nuts and use Melda MRecorder which is the same solution 'on steroids'.

These are definitely great utilities but why use them here? :dunno:
You just end up with the extra hassle of having to merge your recorded silent video with your separately recorded audio.
That's no big deal - use a video editor - but still a waste of time. Better solutions (above) just record it all in one go - done.

i lined up audio and video inside camtasia very quickly, it just needs a bit of practice and well it is a quick solution still.

Why because all other solution reuqired me to learn or understand stuff, while i wanted just to record my DAW for youtube videos.

Yeah, but as i lined out above there are pros for using camtasia for everything. Also it has its own uncompressed way of recording video data, while others compress already like f*ck.

Well if Camtasia only would add a fucking way to support ASiO. (haha thats requested since 2010, but they do not care, then it would be the ultimate and quickest solution of everything presented here for youtube videos.)

Now that I think of it, if low latency is not important you can always set the windows sound device to "what you hear" (or equivalent).
Then you set your DAW to use WASAPI/Windows audio and easy as fuck, any program can record that.
I did this once for a Kontakt mini video tut.
