8Dio Studio Sopranos mark the beginning of a new generation in choir sampling. The sound flows from intimate and detailed to soaring and epic. Produced by Emmy Nominated composer, Colin O’Malley, the Studio Sopranos instrument was created with 9 sopranos, recorded in separate “divisis” of 3. Composers have individual control over each of the 3 divisi groups, offering great flexibility in section size and character.

The Studio Sopranos also proudly feature our new “Polyphonic Phrase Legato” : a truly groundbreaking advance in realism for choral writing. Forgoing traditional sampling methodology of fragmented work builders, polyphonic phrase legato allows you to write freely, while still harnessing the true annunciation flow of a live choir.

Our true legato instruments feature a new level of emotional realism, with a true sense of the sopranos soaring and reaching for each note. Speed control allows composers to customize the interval transitions to cover writing at a variety of tempos. The layer of the 3 divisis provides a true 3 dimensional sense of a live choir at your fingertip.
Dynamic Arcs provide an endless bed of inspiring pads and sketching tools. They can be used on their own, or as supporting voices for our Multi Vowels or True Legato instruments. They are the exact opposite of a lifeless sustain, and will bring true emotional realism to your virtual choir.

Our Staccato and Marcato articulations showcase a punchier epic side of the soprano voice. Pushing things further with our articulation sequencer, custom chains and phrases can be created to trigger effortlessly.


Polyphonic Phrase-Legato
Studio Sopranos contain our new intuitive polyphonic phrase legato system. In essence you can play whatever you desire and all the voices will adapt in real-time, while the phrase is also being tempo-synced to your DAW. It brings a completely new dimension to writing – as can literally get the choir to sing anything you want by using the phrase legato together with our articulation sequencer.

True Legato
Studio Sopranos contains a gorgeous deep-sampled selection of true legato sustains, which are completely smooth and life-like. The True Legatos are designed to work flawlessly with our Polyphonic Phrase Legatos – giving you the ultimate flexibility and control over the sopranos. The true legatos come in three main articulation groups: “Ah”, “Eh” and “Uh” and we added an additional airy variation of “Ah” for your most angelic compositions.

Arcs
The Studio Sopranos does not only contain True Legato and Polyphonic Phrase Legato, but also a massive selection of truly expressive arcs – identical to our Adagio and Claire Series. The Soprano Arcs contains both short and long variations (ex. Short Ah, Long Ah), but also other type of arcs (ex. Airy Ah, Air Soft Ah). There are many times where basic cross-fades won’t work and you need the real deal. This is what the arcs are all about.

Stacs & Marcs
The Studio Sopranos also contain deep-sampled sets of more traditional articulations such as Staccato and Marcato. You do not only have a wide selection of words (ex. Ah, Dee, EE, Eh, Ex, Hoh, Mom, Mus, Nar, Nee, Oh, Pre, Rah, Ruh, Seh, Uh etc), but we have also created a super-easy to use articulation sequencer. So whether you want to control all the words on keyswitch or put them in a pre-ordered sequence – its all there for you.


Articulation Sequencer
The Studio Soprano Articulation Sequencer is designed to manage more complicated type of word combinations. You can either design your own complex sequencing – just by clicking on the articulations or you can let the system randomize it for you. The system allow word chains up to 64 words and you can also control them with keyswitches if you desire. This is a must-have for advanced choral writing.


Divisi Microphones
All articulations in Studio Sopranos contain 3 microphones, which each contain a unique divisi section of 3 singers. So you can either get a very tight studio mix with just one microphone or add all three for a more Enya-type sound – which is slightly more chorus like and burns through the mix. We also added stereo width, EQ preset and pan for the divisi microphones, so you can dial in the exact mix you desire.


Chaos FX 3.0
The Studio Sopranos also contain our latest Chaos FX 3.1 engine, which allows you to virtually do anything you desire to the library. Whether its redesigning the layout by key-control, create a step-based filter sequencer, precision dial EQ, bit-crush or distort, trancegate, stereo-delay or mess around with dual convolution reverbs. We even added our Chaos system, so you can randomize entire FX with a single mouse click.
