Almost made me post my good old Pro Kopyz box again.

Yeah, why do anything yourself, anything creative or original, when you can just copy what someone else has produced.
Fast and ready right out of a box, that's what music should be all about. If it's good for hamburgers...

i remember many years ago, when i used to think and believe that a "true" "musician", even edm should never use samples, even a drum kick, or whatever sound, should always be created from scratch. for me, using samples was like "cheating".

I checked their website and their EDM products sounds like any other EDM-related pack out there, if not weaker in some certain audio demos.
I have nothing against them, but they seems to hype it so much...

The fact that they have native Maschine kits, I give them a thumbs up.
As far as what these sample libraries sound, I don't think the best of the world should be expected from any of them. These things are supposed to be for a quick build, drafts and some inspiration. That's about it!

Yea! but their price doesn't look to justify a "quick build, drafts and some inspiration". Their price is huge for what they deliver.

    Ex...actly ^

    Cheese Bangers.

Love the corny, cheap 3D abstract renders as box designs, good way to save a buck on real product design, yet look 'kool' to the young un's *no*

Sorta the same way they use the same UI design for their FX page on all their libraries. Corner cutting. *yes*

Troels is a little too full of himself. :grooves:

At least they are not asking $199 for a loop pack like they did with Dubstep :grooves:

Praised for doing cheesy pre-made classical/hollywood orchestral sounds.
Flamed for doing cheesy pre-made edm/big room dance sounds.

The hypocrisy and the bad mood here is overwhelming

Hardly so. There have been a lot of critics here regarding this stuff and their approach in recording. *no*

Eh, 8Dio's scoring libs are not cheesy at all (as to the sound) IMO. But their EDM releases has been pretty generic.

I do love some of 8dio's libraries but this sounds like a really shitty attempt at making money off the backs of some of the "new" generation of producers who want to roll their foreheads on their keyboards and get an "EDM hit" in the following 5 minutes.
Any decent producer can smell the horseshit coming from this miles away ("no need for sidechaining, we did it all for you" WHUUUUUT  ).

I just don't get any of you talking about 8DIO's attempt to make money. Well, who doesn't ever attempt to make money? More money? People who doesn't know how to make money! that's who.

8DIO as a company is alive because of money. Cheesy or not Cheesy products which is strictly subjective based on your own taste; Regardless money keeps them flowing.
Native Instruments release a Maschine extension every other month or so. Well, some people consider them cheesy too. Shoop, some of them don't sound too great to me too but so what? Do you think N.I. gonna crawl in a corner and fold their extensions? No!! because there's another X amount of people praising and buying the same product that you or I would consider cheesy, not fit, not adequate enough, not on par, not (insert your own word).

People laugh mad hard at Manuel Schleis with Vengeance decade ago. Now Manuel Schleis been and still laughing at the people who laughed at him.

Some of you may have a whole different view and understanding of what a sample pack is and I won't be arguing it. However, for me, a sample pack is a starting point and basic shaped music bits. They are not meant to sound like a million dollar hit out of the box. I'll sit on a debate table and debate this for days. Have 8DM accomplished that with the first batch of packs they've put out? IMO, absolutely!

All of you already know the famous quote: "You don't like it, don't buy it" It is as simple as that. And, that include myself in the bunch! because at the end of the day if 8DIO wants to produce another trillion of these supposedly "cheesy" 8DM packs, nothing we can do to stop them from producing them as long as they have a customer base buying them.

Sorry I'm vegan, I shouldn't have brought the cheese up.

My post was poorly supported, I'll make my opinion more clear.
I'm almost 30 years old, I started music with classical music, at cello, did quite some bass guitar as a teenager, been touring a lot with a few alternative/indie/post rock band. I've been producing some EDM since few years.Havin' this live musician background, I don't have the "remixer" side (i'll explain read-on)
To me, having pre-mashed staccatos and ostinatos is the very same game as having pre-made bass-kick-percs loops or presidechained stuffs.

8dio certainly have some rad sounds. So does Vengeance. For one-shots. But not for some full licks or loops.
I get that, some producers NEED them : lot of my TV composer often ends up with "I need something Batman-ish for tomorrow, 1pm, you get 900$" contracts.

Still it's always already heard licks, nothing new about it. They sell well because it's interesting to be among the first using a product enabling you to do something that will be catchy and ok-sounding in few hours instead of a few days.

To me stacking up stuffs like this is a remixer job, no a proper composition job.

It's one of the many things I don't get...
    - Kontakt banks : good ,, nexus2 : bad
    - premade stacattos in a holliwood strings bank : good ,, Vengeance loops : bad
    - ....

To me the BIG difference is that you still write the melody yourself when you're using staccatos to take your example. The possiblities are infinite and you're the one doing the work.
When you're using a 10sec staccato loop with the melody already in it (the melodic loops in action strings for example), that kinda takes the fun out of it. I have nothing against nexus either personally for the same reasons (you're still writing the melody).
Every once in a while I'll stick a descrete bass synth loop on a track but I try to stay away from loops as much as possible because then I agree with you that it's a remixer's job and not proper composition and to me that takes all the fun out of it.
The reason why I and so many others were criticizing 8DM is because it looks like they want to give you a sound that's so "ready to use" that you just stack 3 loops together and you have a "hit", but where's the fun in that ?

You're right about this, and of course any kind of instruments, sounds and loops can be useful in a lot of various situations.

    Yeah, that was my thoughts.
I have nothing against samples as such, some of my best friends are sample[r]s [IMG]
My comment was about this friggin McDonalds attitude that all kinds of industries wanna push us to adapt in every goddamn area of our lives.
Where imagination, soul and integrity is worth nothing, everything should be as fast and generic as possible and easy to copy cause that's the smoothest way to make a buck.

Electronic was the music I fell in love with as a kid and it just makes me sad to see sth that started out from amazing creativity, with true pioneers makin totally new styles, instruments and sounds, become just another building block of Puppet Town.

"My favorite keyboard was a DX-100. To program a Yamaha keyboard is a technical mystery so there was a lot of studying, reading the manuals.
Cause if you just used the presets you were the biggest fucking joke in the world. They're only meant as a starting point, and if you're gonna make music, make your own music.
Don't make somebody else's music." - Derrick May
