Hello, i posted this 80 ish beat a couple of days ago, but i'm curious wheter some of you have some more suggestions to make it even more authentic 80's like..

I also have some video material from the documentary 'Cocaine Cowboys', (video material) that you should watch accompanied by the sounds of my song (youtube vol. off ;)), i'm thinking of using some of the footage seen in this trailer as it fits the track perfectly IMO!

    @ Amsterdam Pirate,

If you're enough lucky to possess an original 'Yamaha DX7' (or its variants : 'DX7 II', 'TX816'... ) , simply use it to either add a 'sweet' melody or whatever 'musical stuff' you want or feel all along your song.
If this first suggestion can't be applied for technical reasons --> no 'DX7' available, simply use its software counterpart : the excellent 'Native Instruments FM7', or even better the more recent 'Native Instruments FM8'... Both can greatly replicate their 'legendary' predecessor. *yes*

The use of the 'Korg M1' or 'Korg Wavestation' can also immerse you in the 80's. Here also, if you don't have the original ones... simply use their software counterparts, that you'll find within the 'KORG Legacy Collection'.

If you feel the need to add a 'Vocal Lead', a suggestion would be to try to find a voice tone, or at least with similar characteristics, to that of 'Mr. Warren G', because the original one will certainly be a bit more expensive for you ! , but we never know...
I feel personally that this kind of 'vocal timbre' could well fit your song, but maybe I'm wrong !, "all tastes are in the nature... "

Thanks for the info, didn't knew these programs were emulating those machines. I seem so not well informed when talking to you, you should work @ yahoo answers :D Anyway, I have both products you name in the software version so i'll dust off some hd to re-install them. :mates:

About the 'vocal lead', I'll give Warren a call later in the day, thanks for the suggestion haha!

Now last but not least, do you have some further suggestions mixing wise?

    Thanks again, peace!
