You won't again see the cpu wars like in the past, where we got a massive performance increase each time either party released something.
It just doesn't make sense for them money-wise.
You are only gunna see small increments forevermore.

    It smashed I7 6900K.
"One example is a demo we have seen with the two processors mentioned crunching in handbrake (video transcoding over the CPU), in a roughly 60 seconds run, the AMD RIZEN part was seconds faster than the Core i7-6900K.

The above cam video (go full screen for detail) shows the RYZEN processor at work, on the other side of the room on a screen the Intel 6900K processor results where shown. The 8-core 16-threaded Core i7 6900K was running stock frequency clocks, thus at a 3.2 base / 3.7 Turbo boost on an MSI X99 motherboard.

Unfortunately that 6900K result screen was out of reach for me to video so I just pointed my camera at the stuff that mattered, the Summit Ridge resutls. Now here’s the shocking news, the RIZEN engineering sample (Summit Ridge 8-core / 16-thread) processor did not have any turbos enabled just yet. So the product was running its cores at the default 3.4 GHz."

I really hope for AMD to be competitive again. And for once I am glad I didn't have the money to buy a new system this year.
My Phenom II X6 1075 is not the fastest CPU out there but as long as I can bounce/render stuff here and there...and don't forget to render the guitar tracks+up the latency for mixing.

Finally something competitive. Some say wait for IPC results, but i don't think Ryzen could beat intel, if his IPC isn't on parr. Unless their "hyper T" solution is something out of this world.

They lost their credibility a long time ago and this wont change a thing .

This represent the CPU in use and not the CPU purchase.

The CPU purchased is even worst.
As of the 4th quarter of 2015 Intel was holding 87.7% of the CPU market and rising.
As for the the GPU Nvidia was holding more then 83% of Q1 of 2016 and rising.

I didn't test the Zen myself and I'm waiting to see real life benchmarking before pretending it can only go toe to toe with the Intel product.
AMD as been known for boasting their products since they decided to create the ''black'' CPU products ( the overclocking ones ).
Since then, they always delivered high numbers in frequency but always poor reliability and real life performance .

This announcement is going as planned and is faithful to the everlasting B.S. AMD always put out since they started to ''TRY'' to beat Intel ....at the same time shooting themself in the foot.

In the best case scenario, we could hope for a 50 /50 market share in about 10 years from the release of this ''Oh so revolutionary'' technology that will surpass Intel product ( weird....I already heard someone bragging about that before, I dont remember who it was .....OH YEAAAAH It was AMD )

well only thing worth mentioning right now is that this is "alpha" version of RYZEN so, by the time they release it (in Q1 2017), the actuall performance can/will be only better.
