Okay I stumbled across this pop record and at 2:17 listen what happens
Sounds to me like either the video editor made a mistake or the master sounds like that which i hope not.
Just an interesting find.

The song is at a cool -12/-15 RMS but at that moment spikes to like -7RMS

 

I've heard of producers nudging up volumes at the end to try and pump up energy.

Ariana Grande so smoking hot, that is all.

 

The reason nobody noticed is because normally only 12 year old girls listen to Ariana Grande.

Its only for one line of the pre chorus then it drops back down. I noticed it too in the other prechorus parts just not as bad. Maybe they forgot to reenable the lookahead/oversampling on the mastering chain when they were done monitoring, before they rendered? and the plugs are grabbing her vox before the instrumentation comes back in. Nah, probably just a mixstake.

The funny thing is that the average listener will say "That's cool, I like that part when it gets her voice gets loud!"

Sounds a little too pushed for me. Besides that it's fine.

 

Everything but her coke stuffed nose, is polished.

 

That's a bad rip of that track. Sounds like someone may have messed with the stem tracks. A Beatport pack, or remix contest, maybe?? hell, who knows? Anyway, everything sounds fine on this version at ~2:17, or am I not missing something on these laptop speakers?
