Hi

I've been having problems with the unlocked 64-bit Kontakt(ver. 5.3.0.6464). When I replace an NKI patch with another one or delete it, the DAW in which Kontakt is running just freezes and I have to kill it in the taskmgr (apphang). It's definitely not DAW-specific (it happens in Cubase 7 Elements x64 as well as in Reaper 4.58 x64). It doesn't crash every time I do one of the changes I mentioned above, but often enough to be fairly annoying (especially when you're trying to set up a template). I haven't been able to reproduce the issue in the stand-alone Kontakt, if that helps.

I was having this problem and I went back to version 5.0 then I needed a patch which used 5.3 so I reinstalled it and no problems since. I use Presonus Studio ONe 2.6.2 Win 7 x64

 

Ok, I will try using an older version of Kontakt. That also means "Goodybe Action Strikes", but what the hell, it's not like I can't do without it. Trouble is, upcoming libraries might also require Kotakt 5.3.0 or higher, so I can only hope it will get fixed in the future.

EDIT: I tried your suggestion, installed Kontakt 5.0.3, unistalled, installed Kontakt 5.3.0 and the update (I couldn't keep the old version because of the "this patch was created by a newer version" error), but the problem still persists, I had a crash within ~20 patch replacements.

 

This problem can be anything???

My recommendation:
Backup these folders(they have all your pictures for your libraries in them)
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Kontakt 5\pictures
----
C:\Users\your.user.name\Documents\Native Instruments\Kontakt 5\pictures

Fully uninstall kontakt, Then
Delete these Registry Keys from your Registry if they are still there
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Native Instruments\Kontakt 5
====
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Native Instruments\Kontakt 5
====
C:\Program Files\Native Instruments\Kontakt 5---

Folder location:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Service Center\Kontakt 5.xml

Also Make Sure to Delete all your Your Kontakt 5.dll's from your Vstplugins 32/64bit Folders(Shoot this could've been your problem all along?)

Restart your computer

Install if you can Kontakt 5.2.1 then update to 5.3.0.6464

Load up your DAW, add Kontakt, load it and see if it still crashes, if not

Restore these folders(they have all your pictures for your libraries in them)
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Kontakt 5\pictures
----
C:\Users\your.user.name\Documents\Native Instruments\Kontakt 5\pictures

Add a few libraries, give it a test run, if all good

Add the rest of your collection and your good to go

Check your PM Also

 

I followed your guide and the problem seems to be gone (a few dozen nki replacements in Cubase - no crashes)! And the best thing is, I get to keep my batch-resaved libraries so there's no need for me to strart from scratch

I'll update this should anything go wrong, but for now we can consider this thing solved.
