I was shocked when installing win 10 the amount of user data that was to be shared. The one thing that really got to me was the keylogger. This needs to be stopped. 20 years ago keyloggers were seen as one of the worst trojans to have on your system.

Why it is now acceptable or legal for a company to implement it in the software is beyond me.....

Best free tools that stop Windows 10 from spying on everything you do...

1: Upgrade to Windows 7, but beware that they have now started adding telemetry to that as well via some of the latest updates :(

    2: A Linux Distro.

    @Andrew

Because Microsoft announced to provide with immediate updates for the older operating systems Windows 7 and Windows 8, which almost the same Feautres be introduced, through which the company collects with Windows 10 users of the data. Apparently, these functions do not even leave, once they have been installed.

Who does not want this, which should quickly turn off the function for AutoUpdate, because this is activated, the new update will install automatically and the functions are thus anchored in the operating system. Who does not use Automatic Updates, who has the chance to get around this data collector updates. Then you have to just be careful that you do not install the following updates manually:

kb3068708 :Update for customer experience and diagnostic telemetry
kb3022345 :Update for customer experience and diagnostic telemetry
kb3075249 :Update that adds telemetry points to consent.exe
kb3080149: Update for customer experience and diagnostic telemetry
and the data goes to this microsoft servers via https:
    • vortex-win.data.microsoft.com
    • settings-win.data.microsoft.com

These add a telemetry data transmission of feedback and diagnostics data in Windows 7 and Windows. 8 Once the updates are installed, the operating systems begin to collect data on the computer and transfer them to Microsoft. It is interesting that this transmission can not even turn off when you blocked the corresponding IP addresses in the HOSTS file. These are firmly anchored in the system and therefore can not be deactivated.

most of the KB`s explanaitionc an be found on Microsoft update Pages ...an example https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3022345
as far as i know most of them came with the optional updates

    hope that helps

Thank you! Yes that helps a lot. :mates:

By the way, by "anchored in OS", that means that those updates cannot be removed through Add/Remove Programs?
Well, it's best not to take any chances.

they can be deleted but you have to turn off the automatic updates
when you delete them just make sure if they turn up again in the update list..that you hide them with right click on them !!!

Fortunately, none my machines update automatically. I tend to install updates only when truly necessary. Also on my main PC, Win7 is offline. I asked only to advice my friends what KBs to avoid as they tend to have stuff on auto pilot.

What if I want to use Win 10 on my DAW computer that is unconnected to the net, and I only want to apply the updates that improve audio? Could I download only those updates to a flash drive and then transfer to my DAW? How would I even know what updates those are?

There's usually no benefit in installing updates, especially for offline PC. Only install updates when something doesn't work as it should.

Oh Man, i wish there was like 1 source that was short and to the point detailing what is going on and how it actually is affecting things.

Thanks for the heads up though.

The news that Windows 10 is a spyware suite reminds me of when, about eight years ago, my employer had me install the supposed anti-malware/-spyware application Spybot on all the Windows computers on the company's network – only to find out, after a while, that that software was excactly that: a data-mining, exploitive spy-bot. My employer found advantage in Norton Utilities, however: it logged all internet activity of the computers on the network, including URLs of each site visited, providing him with a clear view of employees' non-work-related browsing – especially the porn sites.

I would say, "I'm glad I'm on Mac," but that platform's no longer (relatively) immune to viruses, Yosemite's final update left a security leak unpatched, and of course Apple denies letting the NSA have a backdoor into every iOS device.

That's sound cool but why people are actually installing Windows 10 in first place??
