61 keys in many pieces are not enough, 76 will suffice except the lowest, e.g. Debussy Clair de Lune, you can't play the lowest Eb in measure 15.

 

I forgot: there are also folding 88k keyboards, I guess they are not really great in touch feel but they sure are wonderful for portability.

True, but I've yet to try and learn anything that requires keyboard gymnastics. I play classical pieces more as an advanced, two-hand practice routine (and, I do obviously enjoy them,) and are far from my forte. No need for 61 keys over here, least not in the near future.
Besides, the decision was 49 vs 61, was it not?

 

more than 127 would be uninteresting unless you can split it across channels. ;)
