What rates do people here use? I understand the principle of there being the sample rate, crisper waveform, less room between samples for anomalies etc etc. However, in the real world, is there a noticable difference?

My system is capable of working at 96kHz, as is my MOTU 828 Mk2. However, i'm wondering if I'm doing it 'just because i can', or whether it's worth it. I know i'll get less CPU usage with 48kHz, and will get more instances of my Focusrite Liquid Mix plugins etc, so there's a couple of substantial benefits in downgrading to 48kHz.

Anybody got any thoughts? Ideally informed and educated thoughts, not 96kHz fanboy-type thoughts

If I record samples I use 96 kHz .... in Cubase (when I make music) I use 48 kHz!

    Cheers

we kinda agreed to disagree in the last topic,

Doing something because you can, does not work well in audio.
you have to do something when the audio is asking for it.

So do you hear a difference? In the end, You want your music to be heard how you intended.

There is no officer who is going to step by and say: "Hey you are doing it wrong!" nor going to write you a ticket.
