Does anyone know how to make a sine wave at 40khz in a DAW? Does it even output at 96khz output?

You can try to put many instances of Maag EQ 4 vst on white noise with 40kHz band. Maybe it will work

 

Obviously... you can. Should you do it? Probably not.

 

Although you can't hear it, your devices will play it - until they burn out.

 

I need to power a 40khz piezo transmitter with a sine wave. It has to be a pure sine... In Ableton Operator you can only output 2khz x 10, so a 20khz sine wave, unless you can multiply that...

But then the issue is will sound even come out of the speaker? [ANSWERED]

Is there a way to create a sine wave at 40khz? Any DAW or synth would do.

 

MIDI notes only go up to 12543.85Hz, so it'd have to be done some other creative way.

If you only need to play back the sine, create one with a command line tool or inside SOUL?

If you definitely need to work on the sine inside your DAW, I guess using csound, faust, soul or something similar in plugin form would be easiest (if purity is a concern).

 

I think the simplest solution will be to buy something like this for 9 bucks.
Look on ebay or somewhere. You can find something even better and cheaper.
This will save you worry and hassle and produce a pure sine wave.

Cheers for that suggestion but it looks confusing, SOUL. FM8 goes up to 9999hz and Ableton's Operator will allow 20khz as a fixed frequency. There must be a way to do it with some hack.

I've seen some personal attack alarms that I wonder if I can hack those down to 20khz?

Looks nearly perfect, but I bet that knob is literally 'anywhere between 50hz and 50k like 'who knows what frequency, its a lucky dip'.

When you turn knob full to the right and then a little left you will be around 40kHz. But you also have to dig through the tea leaves and roll the dice. If you get an even number you'll be in the ballpark

 

OK… let’s try… I have an FF 800 and I choose 192k as sampling rate. I open audacity at 192k. Add audio track choose menu Generate-tone-waveform-sine 40k et oplà.

Why? No one except dogs and dolphins would be able to hear it.

 

As for me, I would just record at 20 kHz and either set the playback speed to double or apply pitch shift x2.

I usually record forty 1khz samples and then sum them when I mix down. I like a lot of reverb though...
