you used to get the latest update before. I've read about people getting straight to 10 from 7 on the steinberg forum, but i dont know what its going to be like now. I asked a mod there about it because i am on the same boat as you actually. Even they dont know how its going to turn out yet, and i've decided to wait until i get some more info.

If you want 12, it will be safer to get 11 now and get 12 from grace period offer. We dont know for sure if the update policy stays the same once 12 is launched.

 

ok, but in order to obtain 11 now, first I have to activate my license I bought for the update (from 10, that I have now, to an ipotethical 10.5)

but if I activate the update license now, I get 11 lol

so, getting 11 by activating an update license, means obtaining 12 free? this was the question, but I imagine that nobody know this, except for Steinberg maybe

Historically, Steinberg hasn't had Black Friday Sales on Cubase (probably because they release new versions around Black Friday)... they do however have a summer sale in July... where they offer good discounts.

I am now on Cubase Pro 10, since years. In 2020, I bought a "Cubase Pro 10.5 Update from Cubase Pro 10", but I never activated it. For multiple reasons, I was not able to take benefit for it until this period (been away from production, long story).

I'm going to activate the license either for 10.5 or 11 or 12 or xx, but just asking: if I activate this license, will I be eligible for a free Cubase 12 upgrade?

I'm asking this because this is a question so underestimated and misunderstood during the years. And everyone has a difference and individual situation, so I thought I might ask to Steinberg directly.

yes I think I'm going to activate it. I already waited for too long, spending money and not taking benefit from that, does not make any sense. waiting may be a good strategy for someone, in some situations, but I think I can benefit from the updates now

I have CA 11, but i don't have USB Elicenser(never actived?), am i elegible for free 12 update?

 

I created a ticket through the site and sent them a message, so yes, via mail. I thought my situation was peculiar and only a Steinberg guy could precisely answer me

I think we can trust him and activate it now lol

 

if you've never activated it you can get Cubase artist 12 for free now.

 

This strongly indicates that ALL users on v11 will be offered 12 for 'free' in order to encourage them to transfer onto their new licencing system once it goes online.
