Latencymon log: (why does it say i have win 8?)

    _________________________________________________________________________________________________________
    CONCLUSION
    _________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Your system appears to be having trouble handling real-time audio and other tasks. You are likely to experience buffer underruns appearing as drop outs, clicks or pops. One or more DPC routines that belong to a driver running in your system appear to be executing for too long. One problem may be related to power management, disable CPU throttling settings in Control Panel and BIOS setup. Check for BIOS updates.
LatencyMon has been analyzing your system for 1:58:54 (h:mm:ss) on all processors.

    CPU SPEED
    _________________________________________________________________________________________________________
    Reported CPU speed: 3696,0 MHz
Measured CPU speed: 4651,0 MHz (approx.)

Note: reported execution times may be calculated based on a fixed reported CPU speed. Disable variable speed settings like Intel Speed Step and AMD Cool N Quiet in the BIOS setup for more accurate results.

    _________________________________________________________________________________________________________
MEASURED INTERRUPT TO USER PROCESS LATENCIES
    _________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The interrupt to process latency reflects the measured interval that a usermode process needed to respond to a hardware request from the moment the interrupt service routine started execution. This includes the scheduling and execution of a DPC routine, the signaling of an event and the waking up of a usermode thread from an idle wait state in response to that event.

Highest measured interrupt to process latency (µs): 9628,273078
Average measured interrupt to process latency (µs): 3,603697

Highest measured interrupt to DPC latency (µs): 9598,073902
Average measured interrupt to DPC latency (µs): 0,749205

Your bios is updated right? If so do this:
That storport.sys thing could be complicated. Try and do a repair upgrade on Windows 10, you need to download the media creation tool:
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/sof...d=_pc6vxtkwoskfrw1hxkpoxiopbn2xheh2epkljh1w00

Here is a video how to do it, remember to keep all files and apps:

Then do a new latencymon test while FL studio is open and post a screenshot like this:

What was your motherboard again? (Like I said be sure bios is updated). This is very important cause that storport thing is related to windows and your motherboard. Start with downloading the latest Realtek Audio Driver, chipset drivers, lan driver and so on. Be sure raid is turned off in bios

why do you say that he should overclock as overclocking has nothing to do with his problems with cpu dropouts ??? and to mention also, overclocked system = not 100% stable system

This CPU has to be overclocked in any case and overclocked ssytems are stable as long as they are sufficiently cooled. But this CPU seems already beeing overclocked to 4.5 GHz. And imho the current cooler is not adequate for this CPU speed. Maybe it's just a temperature problem. So firstly i'd reset the bios to ot's defaults and test the system without overclocking.

if it would be a temperature problem then system would freeze. and temperature has nothing with cpu dropouts, thats strictly related to drivers or bios and latency mon confirmed it. so please do the homework before giving advices to somebody

ps: every intel cpu is a little bit hot with stock cooler and speed wise that cpu is good, i'm on i7 4790k and never ever had any problems and my projects are 100+ tracks and mixed ITB.

Turn off all overclocking of cpu, memory and graphic card. All back to factory setting. Do the update Windows 10 repair I showed you. Also be sure to have the latest 17263 build after repair.
Do all these updates to your Asus Z370-P motherboard (you have an old bios 1002 version):

Then do a screenshot like I showed you of latencymon while a project i loaded in FL Studio. If the latency issues is still there we have to do a: Disable one driver/device at a time in Device Manager to find out exactly which driver (storport.sys) is causing the high latency

He didn't mention CPU dropouts. He speaks about audio dropouts and CPU spikes. If a system overheats and is under heavy load you may end in CPU spikes cause the CPU is slowing down. Your postscript is trivial as he has his CPU overclocked from 3,7 GHZ to 4.5 GHz.

Yeah, update BIOS, install all the latest drivers from ASUS.

Plus.......system seems to be overclocked? Before BIOS update I'd reboot to BIOS and set to defaults. Update BIOS and then, again, boot to BIOS and reset to defaults. Then check CPU ID for CPU speed. It looks very high atm. Then install all the new drivers from ASUS, as suggested above ^^^

And then (reboot) try FL etc........LatencyMon, etc.

I didn't go through the full discussion, so sorry if I repeat some stuff, but let me give some ideas:
    1) you have really nice powerful PC, something which really should work - keep in mind though, more powerful and equipped PC means more stuff which needs to be "in-check" and literally stresses entire system continuously all the time - if you do know you don't need certain hardware features (be it network device, internal audio, additional raid/sata/usb controllers etc..) then do make sure to disable them in BIOS, so they disappear from system before Windows even boots
    2) perhaps you might want to start over again with the clean install, usually it's faster than trying to figure out what went wrong - do give a try to LTSB version of Windows 10, perhaps even LITE variant of LTSB (my favourite is "Win10.x64.lite.v5-IK" but sadly TPB is down to get it, so be careful about other sources)
    3) install proper drivers for all the system components from motherboard manufacturer driver, and correct audio interface driver from Focusrite website
    4) you should consider different audio interface, if you have such decent desktop and don't really need mic preamps, RME HDSPe AIO is THE interface you should use, driver performance, and buffer/latency performance is umatched on the market, and the price isn't that crazy for what you get
    5) sadly neither PT or FL are performance/resource efficient DAWs, so using something like Reaper would give you significantly more headroom with bigger projects
    6) I personally prefer hackintosh way, because Windows is too much waste of time by anything I gotta do, your spec are most likely compatible with MacOS, but I understand that's not a viable solution for you
    7) if you still have older machine, give a try to Vienna Ensemble Pro 6 server solution, it can help A LOT offload most resources (be it virtual instruments, mixing/mastering plugins etc..)

@Daskeladden ok i think thats the next thing i'm going to do but for that I will have to stick my wifi stick into my machine and make a connection which I will need to prepare for since Ive deactivated real time Protection in the admin settings and a lot of other Things for my PC that I will have to recall before I can make a connection. Or am I save to do so without Any protection as long as I dont go for porn sites or else?

Youre right with that. I built this Computer in june, updated everything and kept it offline from there on, so its Not actually up to date.

@Gwydion well, I thought this would be a good cooling System and i didnt Want to have too many Fans since I didnt go for a beautiful case but for a silent Option trying to keep the noise of the Computer as low as possible.
The Problem is you see me struggling with These Software related Things, you really dont wanna see me work on the Hardware. If I really really need to, I would go for another one but if I dont have to, I would really try to avoid it because I really cant see myself getting that right.
But does it look to you like the temperature is too High? You See i dont know that much about it but I thought High temperature was something like 70-80 degrees but im far far away from that, so I thought everything would be alright.

@Grandy thanks for that Info. That confirms exactly what I was thinkin when I opened this thread. I should be able to Do so too. And like you said Latencymon confirmed it, a few days ago i didnt even think I had such problems.
Now i only need to find the needle in the haystack :/

Turn on Defender then go online, and only go to microsoft for Repair Update and Asus site for updates and you should be safe. Here are the two links you need:
    Microsoft Repair:
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/sof...d=_pc6vxtkwoskfrw1hxkpoxiopbn2xheh2epkljh1w00

Asus Z370-P (have to select Windows 10 64 bit):
    https://www.asus.com/no/Motherboards/PRIME-Z370-P/HelpDesk_Download/

And remember to off turn off all overclocking. Remember to update Windows to latest build after repair. Then go offline again, turn off defender and disable wifi, network card

Don't take me wrong. Your cooling system is good but not for extended overclocking. You have set your clock multiplier to 45 which means that your CPU runs with about 4.5 Ghz (bus speed 100 Mhz). This is a lot and actually too much for this cooling system imho. As i mentioned, i'd reset Bios to it's defaults or set the multiplier to 37. The temperature measurement only makes sense when done under heavy/full load.

Start at the hardware level and work backwards....

Try disabing video card - check your problem while using mobo graphics

    Try disabling ethernet card...

    Try disabling wifi

You can disable these in Device Manager

...make sure it's not a sample rate mismatch issue

yep and it does not have anything with temperature and overclocking wont solve it. audio dropouts and cpu spikes are driver or bios related, and latencymon confirmed it. so to say that he should overclock is not good because it wont solve the problem.

Damn, I forgot to mention what @techdevil absolutely correctly identified: cpu c-states... basically, by defult these days, most BIOS's are set to work - in tandem with the OS - to save power at every turn. That's great for normal users, but for DAW work it's a total disaster and would certainly account for many of your problems.... ALL power-stepping etc MUST be disabled, otherwise your CPU will be bouncing up and down like a fucking yoyo, crackling like crazy each and every time - giving you precisely the grief you've been experiencing...

Note: Leave 'Turbo Mode' on, otherwise your overclocking settings will be disabled.

    1. Restart your machine. As it boots, hit the delete key a few times until it opens up the BIOS page.
    2. Go to Advanced->CPU configuration->CPU Power Management
    3. Disable all C-state crap (speed stepping, speed shift etc). Here's what mine looks like (asus WS-299 pro motherboard), should be quite similar to your own:

    bios-cpu-states.jpg

    4. Save the settings and exit. The machine will do a full reboot.

That really will make a MASSIVE difference!

This has little to do with your latency issues but I think your memory is not put correct in the motherboard. Is all your memory from the same manufacturer and the same type? Be sure to put the two that are alike like this:

    It should say Dual here:

. Not necessarily. They may cause the problem.

I interpreted his post to the effect that he complains his CPU beeing too slow. Overclocking speeds it up and is recommended esp for the 8700k, assumed cooling is sufficient. I realized later that his CPU is already overclocked and submitted that his cooling system may not be efficient for that. And a overheating CPU would easily explain CPU spikes or a slow CPU because Intel CPUs throttle automatically when running int the danger of overheating. It's called thermal throtte. That's all so where is your problem ?

I will follow all of your instructions exactly, but in the Most efficient, Logical way Step by Step until we found the Problem. I will Start by setting the uefi settings to default and going through the upgrade process mentioned by @Daskeladden and everything he said. I only touched uefi when I had the problems setting up my ssd Boot priorities, maybe at this point i messed something up but I really didnt know I overclocked it meaning i didnt do so on purpose.
@Gwydion Sorry it could be i didnt use the right words to describe my Problem. I just tried to give it a name. Sometimes it is that the Whole gui appearance is lagging meaning Meters, timers and Stuff while playing back, sometimes its reaching a certain amount of cpu usage on Light projects which should Not be the case... Like 30% with just a drum pattern. Sometimes its a cpu Spike yes, but thats not Often and sometimes its just reaching cpu usage of something like 60% with only one instance of Kontakt using a few different instruments via midi out. Back then my biggest Problem was that Things i Played were Not or just in Parts in the rendered Audio, but I think thats not the case with that PC. But Anyways its hard for me to find the right words for this in english so it is possible i Made you missunderstand me. But I dont think so. I will do what you said now and Set it to default and go on with daskeladdens advice and hope that maybe this already does it so I wont need to overclock or at least at a lower amount matching my cooling System.
I will also try it with all the usb devices disconnected and so ok but it would be a real shame if it was for the devices. I got a mouse, keyboard, interface, komplete kontrol and machine studio and i think thats it...
    @tzzsmk
Naah no need to excuse you have some good points. I do consider to get a new interface one of the next things i'll do but unfortunately im a Bit on Budget at the Moment :(
Could you tell me a little more about those Windows versions. I'm Sorry I asked myself long time ago what Ltsb and all this is. I only know the differences between home and pro versions :P
thats something I never messed with because I always had problems with unofficial win releases, so are those even beneficial compared to official win versions?
For the drivers, when I Set this system up, I really Took care about this, so everything was up to date last Summer but yeah i will look into date after Step 1, too :)
And yeah you might be right, but shouldnt i at least be able to push my System to the Same Limits someone is able to push his with the Same daw, Same vsts Same fx and even worse components?
Youre right, not the lightest DAWs but we all know, maybe you split tasks into different daws but everyone has his preference. I really thought about this so many times but I came to the conclusion that I just needed a better pc which I have now hahaha but im still missing something. But we will figure it out, im sure.
