The questions are : How many Behringer synths you currently own or did own? and How many of its synths have YOU taken apart?

Exactly as you said. I 've played that "Jupiter". It only looks like a Jup8. It's digital, it has some -sort of- faithful emulations of pads and leads from the old Jupiters and Junos and that's it. And i mean the Roland Fantom has those emus too lol. Overall i could say it's a nice synth but doesn't justify the price and definitely NOT a Jupiter, reason why i said Roland can't do it properly.
The interesting things about it are its OS which seems very flexible, almost like a comp in regards to software upgrades which may result into totally new instruments within the synth and the 5 parts multi-timbral engine.
    Cheers

Some people know what they are talking about but others just say whatever, so I am curious as to what Behringer synths he had a bad experience with. Always good to have that type of info for reference. I know that a lot of members here have them but have not heard any bad things from any. I am happy with all of the Behringer synths.

You should have bought a house first in order to have a place to put all those synths.:hillbilly:

Yamaha should reissue the CS-15 with both Midi and CV. The originals are going for less than $1000 today, so Yamaha may not be projecting a big profit with a reissue. However, a CS-40M CS-50, CS-60, or CS-80 could be sold for a big profit margin.

Hehe, the MPG-80. Funny thing i ended up with one back in 1993, after one of those old school trades with a guy. I could never find a Super Jupiter that worked properly for a decent price and i sold it for the unbelievable amount of what equals today 800 euros lol. It was mint though.

The Yamaha CS-15 was a favorite, with 2 complete/discrete signal chains (osc, filter, amp, envelopes) and you could run external audio through the osc 1 chain.
I would filter sweep my string machine with chain 1 and use chain 2 to play synth leads.
Pretty versatile for a cheap synth.
The CS-20 was programmable but not nearly as sonically versatile, if I remember correctly.
They could communicate notes with each other and I could play both with one keyboard.
God I miss my CS-15.

I have various behringer products: they have no excellent built quality, not even top end performance, generally speaking they are just ok. Of course they don't give me the idea of products that last over time, I probably have to consider them disposable. A malfunction that really annoys me is the RD8 inaccurate midi sync: it is a known problem and many of us are asking for a new fimware that works better

The Midi sync is out of whack. You must use the RD-8 as the master. Accordig to Music Tribe, they are working on the software to sort out these issues. The software, instead of the hardware has become the Achilles’ heel of Behringer. The WING has many software issues as well. I expect the upcoming DAW to have many. While all software will have bugs in its early versions, Behringer has set unrealistic delivery times for its new products. As a direct consequence, there is a rush from development into production without adequate testing in all the new Behringer products. In the long run, this will have a negative impact unless all bugs are sorted out ... before the customers have lost, once again confidence, in Behringer's products.

Edit: Uli is saying that he has a team of coders working 24/7 on an update that will solve the timing issue.

I reckon they could do it properly if they wanted to.
But the Jupe 8 was THE flagship Roland synth of the 80s.
If they did too good a job with cloning, what would happen to the second-hand market?
Perhaps some things are meant to remain sacred?

Yep you are right, my quote should read "Roland won't do it properly" not can't. But imho, proper clones of such synths are needed in the market. Surely for many of us such "devices" are remembered fondly and with awe and i can understand considering sacred such a legacy. But many of these machines have started to break, support and spare parts for them has long ended and the machines that are still intact are sold for small fortunes, while at the same time there is a small yet constant demand for those synths.
Therefore i think cloning these machines is necessary for the younger generations to understand how modern music was shaped in the 70s and 80s or even the 90s if you like.
We were fortunate enough to be there at those magical times, kids these days though, only mess with comps and very few have access to real synth hardware. These clones when done properly, will do a nice job to introduce all those wonderful machines to the younger generations and hey, those with real interest and dedication will opt to the second hand market and find what they need.
    Cheers mate :)

True. In the last 2 months there has been an increase in the vintage synths' prices. I, personally, believe that such an increase is a collateral effect of Covid-19. People have to try to find another way to make money. This has brought a lot of "speculators" into the market throwing crazy money at those that own some of those classics. Four days ago I was contacted by a lady offering me $9000 for one of my 2 OB-8s which I have not modified. When I said it was not for sale, she went up to 10K with the only condition that I post it on Ebay or Reverb. In other words, they are trying to manipulate the market in order to drive prices up. BTW, none of the offerings by Behringer nor those by DSI and others have affected the market value of the originals negatively. To the contrary, they have revived the desire to own one of the originals.

    Wowzah! hehe.
But the SUPER Jupiter is the rackmount MKS-80, which is a rack version of the 8 and the 6.
I'd be happy with that in the above post though!

The MKS-80 WAS the Super Jupiter back then. NOW the Super Jupiter is THE ONE I posted. :hahaha: You can buy 4 MKS-80 each with the MPG-80 Programmer ( a must have if you own the MK) and still have a couple of grand left. The earlier version is the one to have. That is version 4 instead of 5. If you had a 3 you could upgrade it to 4. After 4 the hardware is different.

Edit: Do not spend the left over $$ on drugs.
