If you have to ask, I think you just answered your own question. Those who are experienced here know what is being referred to. That's all.

Unfortunately these days those "wonderful plugins" are misused and abused to the point of most things being mastered, at least in the pop/top40 genre (if there even is such a thing anymore), a pile driver sounds more musical.

This is a good one daval.

Silver Bullet is a great color machine that I think is overlooked without question.

I bought it after trying it out... better glue and color and fine mess then others lauded for sure.

Goodhertz plugins...I discovered them in 2023, but still. They are so great and yet sooo expensive for someone as young as me. I hope one day I can afford all of them.

Been kind of sparse technology-wise the past two years. Lots of rehashes, lots of emulations of old gear. Some companies jumping on the AI bandwagon with little to show for it (quelle surprise). Here's what caught my interest and I find using:

Sonnox Claro while not advancing DSP (but capable enough to displace Pro-Q3) is a workflow changer. Starts with a 3-band EQ for broad strokes, then a 26-band EQ, then the rest of your mix (that have Claro on it). It highlights possible problem frequencies/resonances but you have to make a move and listen if there is an improvement. So you always remain in full control from any single instance. It doesn't make decisions for you like Sonible SmartEQ does, though both can show you a whole mix.

Imagiro Autochroma also improves workflow. It makes granularizing a joy, with three parallel streams and easy modulation. With retrospective record (30 seconds) built-in, it encourages experimentation. It's immediate whereas something like Graindad I find myself doing more planning.

Mario Nieto World Harmony Bloom might look like the same old arp/sequencer in a different visual arrangement, but it's inherently non-quantized and sounds a lot more organic. Quantization was added as part of an iterative development process. It can be fully generative. Interesting presets get you started quickly, but there is a learning curve and livestreams to learn from if you really want to master it.

Red Timbre Audio DelayCat is a granular delay leveraging concatenation synthesis. In short, it will select grains based on certain criteria and place them in the delay line as per your settings. In effect, you can control when in the delay line specific aspects of the input sound will manifest. If it sounds complicated, the dev wrote a paper on it but there are some easier explanations on the product page. I find it particularly good for evolving reverse delays.

Recently bought Infinite Packs alpha from Audialab. It's machine-generated sample loops and one-shot drums in a web interface (plugin coming soon). You choose the genre and mood. It started with producing garbage but the SNR is increasing as they train the model. Now there's usable fully-mixed loops if you're a sample-based musician. Feels like crate digging. They are soliciting from users additional genres to train the model on. It's a very iterative development process.

And WHAT, pray tell, are those "truly fine examples that are for the most part over looked."

Got Saturate on JRR sale recently, is the Elevate bundle worth it for the $50 crossgrade? I felt some buyers remorse for Saturate because I thought KClip was a better option, but now I feel much better about it because it can do what others clippers can't - specifically with the "Detail Preservation" option.

i very rarely buy new plugins as I have everything that I could need, but for me, it was MixHead. But of course the best what happened is probably Ostirus!

Waves. Just try this plugins, they are great. never use old plugins like acoustica audio, or uad.

They old, and trying to recreate old fart hardware.
