I bought the 18i8 but they ran out of stock. They giving me the option to pay $20 more and upgrade to 18i20.

I can't make up my mind. Both look pretty good.

Which one would you prefer.. I know 18i20 looks like a super deal for $20 more.

Another question.. Would the mic/line inputs at the back work for synths?
I'm not sure if I need regular line inputs or the ones would do the work.
    (I'm talking about the 18i20)

Sorry for posting again. I'm on my phone and I can't edit my post above.

    ---------

i figure out that synths can be used on the mic/line inputs. I was just wondering if there would be any major issue.

Posting again in the same thread is fine, it's just double threads that are an issue. And I'd pay the 20 bucks bro, you'd be crazy not to.

Your going to need a preamp to record a synth. It looks like that unit only has 2 pre amps. I dont think the inputs on the back would work unless you get another preamp in the signal chain.

someone please correct me if im wrong

Catalyst.- thanks man. I used to moderate a forum! I know it's a hard job keep itrack :p
I know the deal looks sweet!

Drum ninja.- I been looking online. It seems the inputs at the back are the same as the ones at the front? Except for the pad/instrument option. Also it seems you can phantom power 4 mics at a time or 8.

18i20 really looks like a sweet deal for 330

    I meant inputs..

Ghostinthemachine.- yea I keep thinking in doing it. Only downside is the size. But I can adapt myself

Looks like the 18i20 has 8 pre amps. The other unit if im correct has 8 inputs though only 4 pre amps.

The 18i20 for only $330? if so,then where??

I ordered one a few weeks ago, but it has yet to arrive. The dealer here in canada said their distributer, Erikson Audio, doesnt have any in stock and they will be shipping it at the end of october - then it's about a two day wait before the dealer gets it in.... man, feels like I've been waiting forever - can't wait to ditch the old presonus firebox!

Glad you're going for the 18i20. it will look great in a rack. :)

It's 499 but they giving me the deal cause they ran out of 18i8!
I want it the 18i20 at the beginning but I felt it was to many outputs/inputs and size was a bit big.
Now that they drop The prize seems like a good deal.

    I guess I got lucky! :p

Yeah man it's tough sometimes when you have your own shit to deal with. Some people make it worth it though.

Yeah you're getting quite the discount, I know it may not be ideal space-wise but you are future proofing and it will likely save you money in the long run.
