why so many people have so many problems. It runs ultra smooth for me. Check your power plan and switch from "balanced" to "maximum performance". Could help.

yes. but the fact its off has a reason ..... 99% of the people have at least a midi keyboard, why would you need the keyboard to be on .
i guess you are the 1% hehe , so i understand for you then.

Could be anything. In the meantime, have you tried DPC Latency Checker? You readings should always stay in the "green".
Nvidia cards < ATI for music production with regard to system resources and issues.

I sold Live and Push years ago exactly due to these freakling spikes. I couldnt even switch patterns which push without clicks @ very high buffer settings. I tried it under Windows and OS X

One of the best guides how to get your windows installation glitch-free for audio work can be found here:

    https://www.cantabilesoftware.com/glitchfree/

This guide was even linked directly from ableton somewhere on their page ...

This guide covered about 95% of everything I do to every audio workstation that passes through my hands. Excellent guide. This is a required read for everyone interested in making music with Windows. He didn't tackle the Windows services, but those have been covered in depth by Black Viper.

The only thing I don't completely agree with him is Antivirus. He recommends having an AV. AV is a HUGE drain on resources. Just use your Windows for audio and use Linux, OS-X, or another Windows for browsing the Internet. Or use the Internet only when it's really needed, with a couple of safe websites, so there's no chance of picking up any malware or a virus. The middle ground solution is having an AV that you can scan your system with on demand. That's not a bad solution.

I'd read this book thoroughly and apply everything in it to my Windows, @spacetime. Start with that.

    Cheers!
