    Hello mates...
I want to share some stuff with you........ :) (This is a post I made on some other forum, but I want to share it here too)

This is something I was waiting "seated" for a long time, kinda like:
Cool huh??... This image is priceless btw... ;)

I'm talking about running Android itself and Android apps on PC, which I think it's a neat idea.

    Okay, let's start.

The Remix Operating System (Remix OS).

Some of you may already have heard of it, but for those that don't, this is an Android based OS that can run on PCs/USB.
We already know about the Android-x86, but it was never an elegant solution... Now, with this we have that sexy desktop/Windows look and fell with taskbar and stuff in an Android environment, which is very nice. Just imagine all the apps and games that you run in your phone/tablet running on your PC. Sweet.... ;)

    Wait, I ain't finished yet.

Remix OS is not the only chic in the club, there's an even sexier girl around, her name is Phoenix OS.

That one is even better, it's my favorite and I'm running it right now. :)
Phoenix OS is pretty much like Remix, but it was heavily modified to look even more like Windows (Win 10 to be more precise).

So,what do I know about it?:
It's faster, lighter, smaller in size, and easier to install than Remix OS (I'm running a triple boot right now, Win 7,10 and Phoenix). :)

    Phoenix OS links:
    Code:
    Homepage:

Now, keep in mind that these operating systems are in their preview/alpha/beta stages. There's a ton of hardware/software compatibility issues, a lot of apps will not run, wifi/bluetooth may not work etc... So don't treat it like a production ready systems and you'll be fine.

    A word of caution:
These operating systems are Chinese, yeah, they are made in China. Can we trust them?? Why not?....
The Asians are taking over the world slowly, I mean, take a look at this:
Big asses, thick legs, wide hips and stuff are not exclusive assets of the girls of the other side of the world anymore, they are getting it all... Watch out boys and girls.... ;)

At this point you may be screaming: I'm a Windows whore and I'll never leave it.

Okay, calm down, let's take care of it...

If you are a Windows whore (like I am, well, was, hmm, maybe I still am... I don't know... anyway) and refuse to leave it for a second, there's a way to run Android apps on Windows (Linux and OSX as well) via Google chrome browser.
For that you need the Google chrome browser of course (not Chromium or any of it's "sons" like Iron, Opera etc... you know how Google works, they like to keep the good juice inside their asses), and this app/runtime called Arc welder. Just download this stuff and follow the instructions, it's easy to setup.

The last time I heard about Arc welder, it was able to run only 4 apps at same time, which is a limitation... But there's another (custom) app/runtime called Archon that promises to run unlimited number of Android apps inside Chrome. It's worth a try as well... (Never worked for me btw).

    Chrome/Arc welder/Archon links:
    Code:

    Arc welder:

    Archon:

If the Arc stuff is not working, you can always install Bluestacks or any Android emulator.

Now it's time to see some more powerful DAWs running on this platforms... It would be great... :)

    Happy "Androiding".;)

    Cheers..

Interesting OP. I'd like to try it but am a little paranoid, these being chinese made OS's and all. Those thick "assets" on the girls in the pic are obviously morphs btw.

There is, take Audio Evolution Mobile for example, and some other tiny attempts, but if you have to choose between high latency or lower latency with high jitter, which downside would you decide for?
After many years, Android now seems to get a little more love in terms of usability for audio (and external USB interfaces support is not too bad), but still too much a matter of hit-and-miss, depending on your device and audio interface.
Considering the amount and quality (low latency, stutter-free audio, fast UI response) of available "DAW" apps, developers have obviously chosen iOS for mobile devices.

Nonetheless, it's good to be able to run Android apps on the desktop

I'd be interested if the Wi-Fi worked. Does it? And how about HDMI?

I'm not sure about HDMI, my laptop doesn't have an "out" for it, but my Wi-Fi works great.... :)
