delays and reverbs mainly, like small sections open the send up wide and close again

title is a bit vague, do you mean convert wav to midi? most daws have good features to do that, ableton being my chosen for that type of thing....
You can use the MIDI FX transposer to do this for you. it wont highlight the keys on the piano roll but it will assign the key to your keyboard.
