you said the high end is disturbing, so you can gentle LP it away until you find it good working in your mixdown. well i dont have the context now...
little filter over that bass sound and with LP cut the high freq a bit away. you can also use the filter in sylenth1.

it will get audible when you master for movie or has a long chain of effect plugins. FLAC is a bitrate reduction just like mp3. its an audio...
but FLAC is lossless at all ok the size is small, but you lose singal information when converting, while NI made it possible to leave that...
