I think you are making a mistake in comparing the daws. I play and choose daws for fun and FOR the differences they offer i can sketch out a tune...
just grab the bass signal - prefx, prefader send it to (grab it) another channel and mix it in to taste (with HP) if its too wild prefx, send it...

1 if you have TB3 you can get an FW to TB2 adapter and an TB2 to 3 adapter. works perfectly fine
