The new 8700k is the replacement CPU for the 7700k. It's cost is not much higher, and it has 6 cores instead of 4. I'd check it out as well unless...
It looks like Reaper users may benefit from these new 6-Core processors, since the software has always been coded to take advantage of multiple cores.
