depends on other stuff, usually laptops with gaming graphics cards have beefier cooling, so they are able to sustain audio workloads on cpu...
maybe it's corrupted driver not being able to communicate settings change with device (so it remains stuck at device's default) ?

.bin may not be classical disk image, but actual audio image binary, hence why I suggest CueTools
try CueTools maybe?
