With the new version of Logic there's no need to convert files anymore.
You have to remove everything to get the original Spire to work, including the activation key at Library/Application\ Support/RevealSound/
You have to remove all traces of the new version of Spire in order to get the old one to work. It has nothing to do with auvatool.
It's not just the reverting to demo that's a concern, it's the notification that they get.
Have you used Native Access successfully? Does it not report to NI on everything you have installed? I'm very wary of running it.

So NI have introduced Native Access as their only method of registering software and you have to activate online from the machine you are using...
