Those of us with critical listening skills can hear the difference. Easiest for me to tell is the reverb tails are cleaner and longer on 24bit....

Another reason is the sharer gets paid per download. Why convenience you with one download when they can get paid for 10 and get free hosting?
A lot of hosters have bots that look inside of zip and rar files but can't see inside of those packed in layers. Blame copyright holders for that....
