I have a beatstep which are pretty cheap nowadays. Also great fun.
I got one for £70 on ebay about a year ago. great fun. Pretty simple and intuitive. You can easily mod to add midi out too.
I agree, without voice it seems really hard to follow the cursor. Made for a lot of guesswork. Otherwise great. :)

I've used a Launchpad-s with 3rd party software inside Fl Studio 11 a while back which gave it Push like capabilities. Great fun and cheap...
