    hi,

has anyone streamed the audio from Logic X to either bluetooth speakers or over a wifi connection to a wifi network streamer .
i would like to stream output from my macbook to my home hi fi speakers

thinking maybe of getting this bluetooth adapter.
i have heard that the bluetooth way compresses the sound quite alot and that wifi may be less lossy ?

    thanks

Hm ok, but why dont you just get a mini jack cable and plug it in to your hi-fi via an aux input.

    saves £60.

You can use 3 methods, Audio HiJack to AirPlay, Bluetooth or Nicecast, but with Nicecast you can stream to anywhere.

With so many different Bluetooth hardware versions available, there's a few things to consider if you want near-CD quality audio:
    - BT indeed has a limited data rate because that makes it more battery-efficient for portable devices
    - There are Multiple BT standards, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Bluetooth_profiles
This Wiki page is a must-read imho if you really want to understand BT profiles.
    - Consequently, some kind of data compression is necessary in order to achieve near CD quality audio over a low-bitrate link
    - There's a number of different compression schemes that is not necessarily listed with the hardware you purchase, often it's a matter of trial-and-error.

You heard right, but newer profiles should give you sound quality good enough for having fun with wireless composing
I wouldn't use it for mastering, but otherwise it's more than OK.

What's important to know: Only compression standards supported by both the sender and the receiver will work. OK, this sounds obvious but I have found it quite hard to select the right devices just by reading specs :dunno:
The product link you posted is a great example for that: No information whatsoever, not even a list of supported BT profiles. DON'T BUY!

Maybe you can find some *really* detailed info in forums and user product reviews, or on the manufaturer product pages.

Check the BT specs of your MacBook so you know what best-possible BT profile your chipset supports.
Newer models have higher BT data rate and better quality codecs in general.

    Good luck!

PS: At home I simply have a long cable hidden beneath my sofa to plug in the portable device instead, when I need it.
It doesn't really disturb me and I always have CD quality and no potential audio or latency issues caused by a bluetooth driver.
Use a cable in the same color of the sofa and your girlfriend will be happy.

thanks alot for the detailed reply ... the apple Airport and other wifi streaming adapters support lossless audio i think ??
    supporting Airplay rather than BT....
so surely if the received boxes are saying Airplay then this is not blue tooth but through wifi ?

id love to use a simple audio cable but it would stretch from one side of the kitchen to the other so not possible really

my bluetooth is Apple Bluetooth Software Version: 4.2.6f1 14216

so surely if the received boxes are saying Airplay then this is not blue tooth but through wifi ?

    thanks again
